MUTUAL WEAPONS DEVELOPMENT DATA EXCHANGE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES DEPART ENT OF DEFENSE AND THE AUSTRAL DEPARTMENT OF"DEFENCE ON AUTOMATED MISSION PLANNING Pursuant to the term and conditions of the Mutual WeapOns'Development Data Exchange Agreement (MWDDEA) between the United States Department of Defense and the n Department of Defence, signed 25 January 1962, the following Data Exchange Annex (DEA) is hereby established.. PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND CLASSIFICATION: a. The scope of exchanges will, encompass research, development, test and. evaluation (RDT&E) for,unit and force-level mission planning, Areas for exchange include: System and subsystem -oznicepts and designs; Command and control-architectures; Mission planning architectures; Commun cations, information management, and architectures.; Cognitive decision aiding concepts; Reliability, maintainability, supportability; Methodologies, modeling and simulation, operational research; and

Correspondence and requests for information will be handled in accordance with paragraphs Ia. and 3.c..of the NIWDDEA.

4 b. Coordination: In accordance with paragraph 3.a. of the IvIWDDEA, only those Establishments and Authoritieslisted herein are authorized to initiate correspondence'. Such correspondence Will be forwarded to the Technical" Project: Officer of the originating nation for transtnittal via the Head n Defence Staff,, 1601 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20036, to the Technical Project Offieer of the receiving natibn for, necessary distribution., 4. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This Annex will not impose any-financial Obligation on either Party except to the extent that each Party will be responsible, for funding -Costs it incurs in its own interest related to the support Of this project 5. DATA EXCHANGE' OBJECTIVES: The Parties, recognize that data exchanges should take place on a reciprocal, balanced basis, so that the data 'exchtmged is approximately.equivalent in both quality and quantity. The Parties further recognize; however, that the data exchanged may be in various forms and the exchanges ma y not necessarily Coincide in time. Accordingly, in Orderto achieve this balance Data Exchange Objectives will be established by the ITO is,within 90 days of signature. The'Objectiyes maybe revised annually through exchanges.of correspondence by the. Project Officers to reflect current technology considerations. 6. DURATION, AMENDMENT. AND TERMINATION OF THIS ANNEX: a. This Annex will become effective on the date-of last signature.and will automatically expire five years from the date of the last signature unless extended by,. written agreement of the Parties. b. This Annex may be amended or jointly terminated by written agreement of the Parties. This Annex will unilaterally terminate if either Party informs the other of the intention to terminate and gives 60 days written notice to the other Party. d. This Annex will automatically terminate if the MWDDEA is terminated, e. Upon expiration or termination of this. Annex, data Previously exchanged will remain subject to the security provisions of paragraph 4 of the MWDDEA.
