1 Here is the log-on screen for the Residential Management System software. You will log in with your UMassD username and password. This screen is the welcome screen. On the left, click "I am an incoming [varies] student," then "Preferences and Contract."

2 Here is the first "actual" screen of the first-year preference and contract screen. (You may have to scroll down to see the whole thing. Please note that you will need access to an account to complete the online signing portion. If you are requesting a specific roommate, you will need his or her UMass Dartmouth student ID number (8 digits, usually beginning with 01). Please click "Next Step" to continue.

3 This screen is where you enter your Emergency Contact information. Items with a red asterisk next to them are required. This includes a personal cell phone number (or other personal phone number) on the top portion of the page. Information in the bottom right - the "Missing Persons" portion - will ONLY be used in the event a student goes missing. We are required by state law to ask for this information. Once you have filled in the necessary information, please click "Next Step" to continue.

4 Okay, here's where it gets moderately complicated - roommate choices. IF you would like to select a specific roommate, here is where you enter his or her student ID number (eight digits). Click the green "plus" button to bring up the search box. You will then type in the student ID number and click "Search." If the other student is eligible for on-campus housing, his or her information will come up. You can then click "Select." Please note that roommate requests are based on mutual request and space availability. Scroll (slightly) down to continue to the next part of the page.

5 Directly below the roommate search section is the Roommate Matching Preferences section. Here you can answer questions about your preferences for roommates. Please answer the questions as accurately as possible. Housing will use this information to attempt to match students with roommates.

6 At the bottom of this page you select your preferences for building and room type. You can select up to six preferences, but, like with roommate requests, these are not guaranteed. Click the box by "Preference Type" to bring up "building." Then (you may have to wait a second or two) you can click on the box below it to bring up the options for housing. Once that is selected, you can click on the bottom box and select a specific room type. Again, please do not limit yourself to one room type, as specific buildings/room types fill up quickly. Click on "Next Step" to continue.

7 This is the screen on which you select a meal plan for You can use the drop-down menu to select a plan. Information about meal plans can be found here: Once you have selected a meal plan, please click "Next Step" to continue.

8 This is the top half of the contract signing page. If you would like to have the contract ed to you, click the " " link on the right side. If you would like to download the contract to your computer, please click the "Download" link on the right side.

9 If you are under 18, please click here for your contract-signing instuctions (or flip a few pages forward). ***If you are over 18 years old*** Click the checkbox to certify that you are, in fact, 18 years or older. You will then enter your University ID number (8 digits) in the "University ID" box, then click "Send Code." A box will appear for you to enter an address. Please do so, then click "Send." It is recommended you open a new tab on your browser to check your . You will receive an with a code......you will then enter the code in the "Confirmation Code" box...

10 ...and click "I Agree." At this point, your "University ID," "Confirmation Code," and " Address" fields should be un-editable. You can now click "Finish."

11 ***If the student is under 18 at the time of contract signing*** the ID number should be entered, then click "Send Code." The address that is entered should match the in the Co-Signature 1 box. This means the confirmation code will go to the emergency contact listed for the student. The confirmation code should be entered in the "Confirmation Code" box, then the student (or guardian) should click "I Agree." The boxes will be uneditable at that point. You should then click "Finish."

12 When you get to this screen, you are done. If you do not get to this screen (or something similar reading "Application Accepted"), you are not actually done.
