We are committed to ensuring that every one of Baltimore s 85,000 students has the opportunity to participate in the sustainable cultivation of healthy foods. Because every student interacts with food on a daily basis, it is a powerful tool for demonstrating our personal reliance on natural resources, and the importance of protecting our soil and waterways. The Farm s programs are designed to connect students to sustainable agriculture at the Farm, in their classrooms, in their schoolyard, and in the cafeteria. Friends of Great Kids Farm uses a variety of strategies to meet the goal of touching all of Baltimore s students: we fundraise to support programs, we mobilize volunteers to staff programs, we open the campus to community members to raise awareness of the cause, and we engage stakeholders as advocates to ensure there is a broad constituency committed to sustaining the facility. The Chesapeake Conservation Corps member will contribute to these activities by educating campus visitors about the impact of agriculture on personal and environmental health, by ensuring proper training and coordination of volunteers to provide high quality service, and serving in a support role for 3
