It is estimated that the mobile gap in Kenya has decreased to only 7% today from 22% in Most industry observers attribute this impressive performance to M-Pesa. During expert interviews, academics, NGOs, and MNO executives explained that M-Pesa was a catalyst to women owning phones. An extremely relevant and valuable product, M-Pesa allows cheap and efficient money transfers, often from sons or husbands working away from home to their mothers or wives.
