2 Amoco MIBS AMOCO Chemical Corporation MIBS [IMBA] Fellowships are awarded each year to outstanding entering MIBS [IMBA] students who have demonstrated the potential for making significant contributions to business leadership in the global economy. These fellowships carry a stipend of $3000 per year and are renewable for one year if the student is making satisfactory progress towards the MIBS [IMBA] degree. Anthony Edwards BFSA and No Rodrick Moore rmoore@mailbox.sc.edu BGSA Graduate The scholarship will be granted annually to a graduate student from an under represented group in order to promote diversity among the student body who has achieved academic excellence, mentored other students and served as a model for leadership in his or her academic discipline. This scholarship is for graduate students enrolled full-time at the University of South Carolina-Columbia Campus. The amount of the scholarships given annually will be determined by the amount of contributions in the Anthony Edwards Fund. The award recipient(s) will be selected by the BFSA and BGSA Selection Committee. The award is named for Dr. Anthony Edwards, former Assistant Dean of the Graduate School, who devoted his career to the success of graduate students at the University of South Carolina. AVX/Kyocera The AVX Corporation Endowment will provide five graduate fellowships for the IMBA program. Only earnings from the principal shall be used toward the fellowships. Each fellowship will be for $2,500. Criteria is open, however, preference is given to students from geographic areas where AVX operates. Bank of American MIBS [IMBA] From Nation's Bank, now Bank of America, provided one fellowship per year to a qualified MIBS student. Selection was based on outstanding academic ability, interest in pursuing international business, particularly in the banking field, outstanding undergrad GPA & GMAT. Also, outstanding leadership potential as demonstrated in business, academic and community activities. Finally, the candidate may be interviewed by bank representative. If no one qualifies, then the scholarship(s) wil be awarded by the Unifersity's College of Business Administration Committee to worthy students enrolled in the college. The fellowship(s) and scholarship(s) shall be renewed annually until the candidate (s) receives his/her degree so long as the student (s) meets the University's renewal criteria. Bill Putnam Established in 1990, the Putnam Fellowship is awarded to outstanding incoming MACC students. The competitive award is based on a demonstrated high level of academic ability. BMW In December 2000, BMW pledged an endowed gift to the Moore School of Business in the sum of $1,000,000. A portion of the gift is to be used to select a recipient of the BMW Fellowship. Selection criteria is still being considered. 7 Duke Energy MHR USC Business Partnership Foundation Established in 1999, the one-year Duke Energy Fellowship was established to support a first year Master of Human Resources student. The fellowship was designed to attract more talented and qualified candidates to the MHR Program. The contract suggests that the selected candidate complete a research project on an issue of critical importance to the HR field. Specifically, the student would complete a two-part project where they examine the impact of HR on firm performance. E. Craig Wall, Jr. The E. Craig Wall fellowship was established to support the endeavors of an incoming masters degree student who has graduated from Davidson College. Selection shall be based on financial need, campus leadership, and community service. The fellowship may be renewed for one year if GPA is above 3.0. The minimum award shall be $1,000. Fluor Daniel IB Established in 1989 for MBA students, the Fluor MBA Fellowship seeks to help recruit top engineering students interested in pursuing their MBA degree. Selected candidates for the $15,000 (per year) award are invited to the Fluor campus in Greenville, South Carolina for a series of interviews. Lane Memorial USC Business Partnership Foundation Established in 1983, the Frank B. Lane Memorial fellowship supports students with interest in human resources and/or organizational behavior. Fred S. 10 Gregory Curtis Lackey Fellowship No N/A DMSB Graduate Office Established in 2000, the Gregory C. Lackey Fellowship was established in memory of Greg Lackey, graduate of the MIBS program. Preference for an outstanding candidate from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, or Virginia and must be a U.S. citizen. The selected individual must be 27 years of age or younger and shall not already be conversational in Portuguese language, but should be in that language track (or Spanish if Portuguese is unavailable). The minimum award is $500 and is renewable. Fellowship(s) may be renewed for one academic year. To be eligible the recipient must have a 3.4 GPA. H. Recipients shall be known as the Max and Margaret Nesbitt Business Scholars. Selection shall be based on academics and financial need. No N/A DMSB Undergraduate Office Maria Yang Fellowship Maria Shaoyan Yang was a student in the IMBA, Vienna Program in 1999 until her untimely and tragic death. Her classmates have established the Maria Yang Memorial Fellowship in her honor and to create opportunities for other female Chinese students to attend the IMBA program. The Yang Memorial Fellowship of $5,000 will be awarded based on the following selection criteria: leadership potential based on extracurricular activities and or work experience; academic background; and financial need. MHR Advisory Council The MHR advisory council receives contributions each year from corporations like ExxonMobil, Honeywell, Duke Energy, Sony, Monsanto, and Sysco Corporation. Candidates are selected based on merit qualifications and must be pursuing a degree in MHR. Michelin North America, Inc Established in 1998, it is the intent of the donor that the fellowship be awarded to an IMBA student with preference given to applicants with an undergraduate degree in engineering. Michelin has an option to review fellowship applications and interview applicants. However, final selection shall be made by the Dalra Moore School of Business. 16 Moore School of Business Undergraduate s Moore School of Business departmental scholarships are competitive and limited. The number and amount of scholarships awarded vary and are subject to funds available. Students receiving awards are expected to have high GPAs and exemplary records of achievement. While a number of factors are considered, the majority of BA scholarships are based on academic performance. An applicant must have a 3.0 to be eligible for a scholarship and the majority of Moore School scholarship recipients have a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher. The following guidelines have been adopted by the Moore School Committee: Recipients must be full-time students enrolled in the Moore School on the Columbia campus. Academic merit is the primary consideration. s may include other selection criteria as specified by donors, such as class standing, major, residency, or financial need. Travis Pritchett Fellowship Endowment N/A The Finance Department Committee Fellowship is awarded to an outstanding masters or doctoral student with career interest in insurance or employee benefits. Recipient receives a minimum of $2,500 for an academic year. Selection criteria: 1) Career interest in insurance or employee benefits as indicated by the student. 2) Academic promise as indicated by one's previous academic record and program of study; Score on the GMAT and previous academic awards. 3) Business leadership potential as indicated by previous extracurricular activities to include community service and offices held. 4) The ability to communicate effectively as indicated by the fellowship application, a personal interview, and a written statement of objectives.
