2 So many things happen around this exciting place of ministry, I sometimes just stand back and giggle! I have often compared ministry to the guy you watch on television who balances a number of revolving plates on round sticks. Sooner or later, he would get so many plates going, he just can t keep them all balanced. They soon began to collapse and fall to the ground. I am constantly amazed at the level of hard work, devotion and commitment that results in the many and varied plates of ministry remaining balanced at FirstSarasota, the Downtown Baptist Church! In recent days, we have seen our students ministries embark on a series of exciting ministries ventures. As I write this column, our middle school students are arriving back from a ministry week in Orlando engaging in inner city ministries. Our high school students are preparing for a trip to Jamaica to do Vacation Bible Schools and construction assistance at the Christian elementary school we are helping Mt. Carey Baptist Church build in Anchovy, Jamaica. A Student Missions Festival & Luncheon is scheduled for noon Sunday following our 10:30 worship service. We are asking each person who attends to make a minimum $10 donation to assist our students in underwriting the cost of this strategic mission trip. In addition to your donations, there will be an opportunity to bid on a number of delicious desserts and, if you wish, you can rent a duo of kids for a special work project around your home. Join us Sunday at noon to help our kids keep the plate in the air! Kathy Robinson has agreed to coordinate a whole new aspect of woman s ministry at the Downtown Baptist Church. We are kicking off this new emphasis with a Beth Moore simulcast from Louisville, KY, Friday evening, August 1st & Saturday morning, August 2nd. I encourage all of our women to participate in Living Proof Live a woman s conference that will transform your life! We are also planning a new ministry to bless and encourage the downtown working woman. This fall we will kick off a series of luncheons designed to encourage the woman who works outside the home in jobs within the downtown corridor. Reflecting the unique gifts of the Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31:10-31, this luncheon ministry will bring Christian devotion and wisdom to the challenges every working woman faces! As you can see, we are adding several more plates to the ongoing ministries that FirstSarasota engages in every day to make Christ known! Taking Christ to the world, beginning with our own community, is our primary call no matter how many plates we have to keep going. Join the FirstSarasota Student Ministry TODAY, June 29th, for a luncheon to raise funds for their Mission Trip to Jamaica! Lunch begins at Noon! Minimum donation: $10 per person or $20 per family There will also be a Dessert auction and a Rent-A-Kid Auction!

3 KIDS CLUB meets every Wednesday night at 6:00P.M. All kids who have completed Kindergarten through Fourth grade are welcome to attend! There will be a Bible message, snack, games, and crafts! High School Mission Trip: Montego Bay, Jamaica July 12th-19th Middle School Camp: Brooksville, FL August 8th-11th Friday, August 1st: 7:30P.M. - 10:00P.M. Saturday, August 2nd: 9:30A.M. - 1:00P.M. Doors will open one hour before the event. Ticket prices: *$35 per ticket ~ *$30 for groups of 10 or more *$40 for tickets purchased at the door on the day of the event Tickets are available in the Church Office, Monday - Friday from 9:00A.M. to 4:00P.M., and at Living Word Christian Book Store. Sunday, July 13th FirstSarasota will be participating in the World Hunger offering sponsored by the Florida Baptist Convention. In 2007, Florida Baptists gave $324,391 to fight world hunger through this same offering. Twenty-five percent of that money remained in the state to help meet local hunger needs. The remaining money was divided between the International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board. Please prayerfully consider what the Lord would have you give for this year s offering. For I was hungry and you fed Me; I was thirsty and You gave me water...i tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me. Matthew 25:35, 40
