2 The Olivet Honors Program encourages and nurtures academically gifted students in integrating Christian faith and learning, preparing for servant leadership in the church and the world.

3 Program Advantages For academically gifted students, the Olivet Honors Program offers distinct advantages over the traditional academic program. Offering an intellectual and social community for honors students, the program is centered around the University s only interdisciplinary classes, which are taught by a faculty team of subject-matter experts. During your first two years as an honors student, you will take four interdisciplinary, team-taught classes that satisfy four general education requirements. Class topics vary from traditional course offerings and provide a unique and challenging alternative for earning course credits.

4 Re search During years three and four of the Honors Program, you will complete a funded, faculty-mentored research project, and you will present your work at the University s Scholar Week Symposium. Throughout the Honors Program, you will have ample opportunity to experience cultural events and engage in annual service projects with nonprofit organizations. You will also have the opportunity to incorporate a study abroad experience. At the conclusion of the program, your University transcript will include the honors designation, which may be used for résumés and graduate school applications.

5 How to Apply To be considered for acceptance in the Olivet Honors Program: 1. Apply and be admitted to Olivet Nazarene University. 2. Verify one of these standardized test scores: ACT composite 30 or higher SAT math and critical reading 1330 or higher or composite 1980 or higher 3. Submit completed Honors Program application form with required essay. Application deadline is in late January for the Honors Program beginning in the Fall semester. Applicants are notified of acceptance status by mid-march. Essay topics and specific due dates are available at 4. Complete Honors Program interview on campus with two Olivet faculty members. Honors graduates, including those pictured here, consistently credit their Olivet Honors Program experience for helping them discover their direction and embrace the future. I m now a full-time employee at this major financial institution. I m training to be a financial planner, and I m studying for the CPA exam.

Even though my honors work wasn t in the field I work in now, the skills I learned correlate to my job and my responsibilities. Ph.D. Candidate, Boston University My independent research project in geology played a direct role in shaping my future. The project took me into the mountains for field work, gave me access to a well-respected research lab in Michigan to collect data, generated the data for two published abstracts and gave me the opportunity to present my findings at a national geology conference. It also served as introduction to my Ph.D. advisor at Boston University.
