She is a native of California and raised in the San Gabriel valley. She was educated in the Catholic School system from first Grade through Graduate Level. She has served in several Diocese in California and Arizona first as a Teacher, Director of Catechetical Ministry and positions in 3 diocese as Diocesan Director of Religious Education. Sister Alice along with members of other Diocesan Hispanic Directors founded the organization of NOCH. Hna. Alicia Molina, RSHM es miembro de la Congregación Religiosas del Sagrado Corazón de María. Ella es originaria de California y se crio en el Valle de San Gabriel. Fue educada en el sistema de escuelas católicas desde el primer grado hasta el nivel de postgrado. Ella ha servido en varias diócesis en el estado de California y Arizona, como profesora, Directora del Ministerio para la Catequesis y en 3 Diócesis a sido la Directora Diocesana de Educación Religiosa. La hna. Alicia junto con otros directores diocesanos hispanos fundó la organización NOCH. 2

4 Panel discussion / Panelistas El Dr. José Antonio Medina obtuvo sus grados académicos en la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca en España. Ha sido profesor en México, España y US. Ha dirigido programas de formación de líderes en las (Arch) diócesis de Chicago, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Kansas city y en todas las diócesis de California y Nevada. Ha enseñado en Mount St. Mary s College, en El Multicultural Institute en Berkley, CA. y en Loyola Marymount University. Ha escrito libros de formación teológica y de educación en la fe, como Diálogos semanales con Jesús, Temas calientes para jóvenes cristianos. Actualmente es Consultor para asuntos hispanos de La Conferencia de Obispos de California y de Liguori Publications. Sister Rosa Monique Peña, OP is a bilingual consultant for Sadlier engaged in giving presentations, workshops and retreats nationally and in the Caribbean. She is a former Director of Religious Education for the Archdiocese of Miami, Florida, responsible for coordinating the evaluation of catechetical programs in English, Spanish and Creole. She designed and developed a very successful bilingual catechist certification program in collaboration with the local Catholic universities, Barry University and St. Thomas University. Her catechetical experiences have been many including classroom teaching, administration and parish Catechumenal programs. Rosa Monique received a B.A. in Spanish and a M.A. in Religious Studies from Barry University, Miami, Fl. a certificate in Preaching from Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis, MO and a certificate in Process Facilitation. Sister Alice Molina, RSHM (see page 2/ vea pagina 2) Adrián Alberto Herrera is an Associate Director for the office of Continuing Christian Education in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. He has served as consultant to the National Advisory Committee on Adult Religious Education, formerly known as NACARE. He has written articles for several publications and developed materials for the USCCB Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis for Catechetical Sunday Adrián served as one of the six animators for the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership FCH Forum on Catechesis with Hispanics. He is currently one of the planning committee members for NCCL He has been a catechist, youth Minister and Director of Religious Education. Adrián received his BS in Microbiology and Chemistry from The University of Texas at El Paso and his MA in Pastoral Studies from the School of Theology at St. Mary s Seminary. He likes to spend time with his children and writes a blog about his reflections in Spanish. Dr. Marc González brings over thirty-five years as a catechist of adults and adolescents to us. He worked as a parish catechetical leader, master catechist and diocesan catechetical leader for over twenty-five years. His studies include a master s degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and a doctor of ministry degree from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. Marc is also a product of parish-based catechetical programs. In his current position, Dr. González is director of the Department of Faith & Ministry Formation for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Vegas. His responsibilities include supporting parish catechetical ministry, youth and young adult ministry, lay ecclesial ministry and he coordinates the annual Diocesan Conference. Dr. González is also expanding services to the Spanish speaking population in the Diocese. Rita Ann Martinez is currently the Director of Family Faith Formation of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston-Houston Archdiocese. She has had 30 years in the Catechetical field as a youth minister, DRE, and Catholic School Teacher in the Archdiocese of San Antonio and Diocese of New Mexico and presently in Galveston-Houston. She teaches formation classes in both English and Spanish for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston for other PCL s. She is president of a local professional PCL chapter in Galveston- Houston, Archdiocesan of Catechetical and Pastoral Ministers (acpm). She has a BA in Religious Studies and a MA in Theology from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. She has certifications in youth ministry, pastoral ministry coordination. 4 4

5 Lay Ecclesial Ministry Certification Process Harry Joseph Dudley Assistant Director for Certification of Ecclesial Ministry, Secretariat of Catholic Education Harry J. Dudley holds a doctor of ministry degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Mishawaka, Indiana and a graduate pontifical degree in theology (S.T.B.) from The Catholic University of America, D.C. He graduated cum laude from SUNY at Stony Brook, NY with a bachelor in arts in Philosophy and Social Sciences He is a member of the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership on whose board he served for over 8 years, the National Association for Lay Ministry and the ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development). He has served as diocesan director of religious education for more than 20 years and also has had extensive experience in campus ministry and teaching in high school, curriculum development, ministry formation, youth ministry and adult education including RCIA and on-line facilitation of adult learning for the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation of the University of Dayton. Harry and his wife Patricia have three adult children, Martin, Neil and Kathleen. Their son Martin and wife Krystle have given given them the added joy of three grandchildren: Austin, Ashlyn and Dylan. Forum Animator Team Victor Valenzuela is a National Religion Consultant for Bilingual Resources for William H. Sadlier, Inc. He has presented workshops to numerous groups both regionally and nationally. He has been in ministry for 20 years including classroom teaching, youth ministry, teacher training, and writing and development of new materials. He has a Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph Seminary in Menlo Park, CAHe also has a Master of Arts in Education from the University of San Francisco, ICEL Program. José Marino Amaya is currently the Coordinator of Course Promotion and Hispanic Catechesis for the Archdiocese of Washington where he is responsible for catechist formation, leadership development, RCIA, and High School Religion Teacher certification, etc. He has 10 years of experience in the catechetical field. He is an Animator of the Forum for Catechesis with Hispanics of NCCL. He has a Masters in Divinity from Washington Theological Union in Washington, DC. Rita Ann Martinez (see page 4 / vea pagina 4) Enedina Saucedo is the Associate Director for the Office for Evangelization and Catechetical Ministry in the Diocese of San Diego and am the Region XI representative to the NCCL Rep Council, representing the Hispanic Voice. She is a teacher for the Diocesan Institute and assist as Religious Education advisor and Music Director for Christ the King parish in San Diego. With a team of translators, she assist NCCL in making available the CL weekly newsletter to Spanish speaking members. She also headed the Spanish translation of the catechetical guidelines Libia Páez Howard, She is native of Venezuela. She hold a Master of Divinity from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Since 1981 she has been a catechist, youth minister and coordinator for religious education at the parish level. She currently serves in the Office of Catechetical and Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Chicago as the Vicariate III Catechetical Coordinator and Coordinator for Hispanic Leadership Formation. María G. Covarrubias is the director for the Office of Catechetical Ministry in the Diocese of San Bernardino, California. She is a master catechist and has designed and developed basic and advanced programs for catechist and master catechists certification in her Diocese. She has presented workshops at the national, regional and local level on catechesis, catechist formation, parent involvement, family and marriage. She has a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies from Mount St Mary s College in Los Angeles. 5 5
