4 High School Graduate Program With over 150 years of experience in education, our schools uphold high standards. Schools offer a broad range of subjects designed for a wide range of abilities. Programs for gifted and talented students and extension subjects in senior high school ensure students are challenged and able to achieve their best. Students develop digital technology skills using approved online education resources and laptop computers are provided for each student in Years Schools are equipped with videoconferencing, interactive whiteboards and a range of technologies for specific subjects. Teachers are fully-qualified and four-year trained university graduates. Classes are small with a maximum of 25 students in senior classes so students receive individual attention. The NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) is a full two-year program with assessment tasks in each subject, practical work or fieldwork for some subjects and a final written examination in each course at the end of Year 12. Students who matriculate with this highly-regarded qualification may apply to study undergraduate courses at Australian and international universities. Intensive English Programs Students who need to improve their English skills before they enrol in high school can apply for an intensive English language course at a NSW government Intensive English Centre (IEC). The advantage of attending an IEC is that teaching takes place in a government school location, there is an orientation program, staff provide welfare support and help students adjust to their studies quickly. University-trained and fully-qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers provide lessons in English for key high school subjects. Students benefit from small classes which have a maximum of 18 students. Students generally study an intensive English course for up to 20 weeks. They then move into a transition program that helps them successfully integrate into studies at their nominated high school. Primary School Program Primary school-aged children (6-12 years old) may enrol in a NSW government school and must live with their parents if they are in Kindergarten to Year 4 (6-10 years old). The primary curriculum covers six key subject areas and English language support is provided for children whose first language is not English. Children in Years 5 or 6 (11-12 years old) may live with a close relative.
