2 2 Opening Announcements/News: 1. Two more new Rotaract member candidates welcoming applause: Adonis Panagidis and Marios Papasavvas. 2. President Yulia attended the Cyprus Rotaract Clubs evaluation meeting. Message for us regarding criteria of evaluation used: - Fund raising activity: is checked by reviewing bank statements of clubs - Promoting Rotaract awareness: by reading media covers - Biggest impact on community - Membership development and growth - Attendance 3. The Board has approved the August holidays, - thus the next General meeting will be held on 31 st August Place to be notified later on Facebook and by Our Charters have been approved a couple of days ago, so the Celebration of Chartering will now definitely happen on the 15 th of September during Gala Dinner at the Presidential Palace. Details: the event is organized in cooperation with Green Dot. Please see The money raised will be spent to finance purchase of materials for schools. Event: the concept is about light live music with food. Price for Club members is 35 EUR, for guests is 50 EUR. Tickets: will be distributed soon to several members for further distribution. We will notify soon. Tickets can be sold to anyone else (parents/friends) for EUR Next RYLA Conference will be held in Egypt 7-10 October (It s a very interesting event both for personal development and for meeting people and is a big fun in general! Olga Panfilova s note) Everyone is very welcome to confirm their final interest/availability, including new members. We are awaiting details from the Sponsors, this will be communicated by Rotary Club Nicosia-Aspelia President Caterina in August.
3 3 6. Our Club official of our Club has been registered: Since now on we will distribute official info from this mailbox. Please add it for your contacts to forward/receive official communication. 7. Rotaract pins/ribbons/poster will be obtained by us with the support of Nicosia-Aspelia Rotary Club President Caterina Kalavas and Rotarian Stefan Peter so that we have them before the official Chartering ceremony on 15 th of September. 8. A member application form to be updated by our Treasurer Charis Michael (thank you for volunteering) to include our newly designed logo and additional details. New forms are to be sent to our President Yulia, Secretary Olga and Treasurer Charis. 9. Our Professional Development Committee Director Louis Kangas will take charge of updating the occupation/professional list of the Club and filling in the missing details. Be ready to help with your personal information, please! 10. Rotarian Marcos Zambartas (RAC Limassol Amathusia) is now VDRR in Cyprus and he is eager to come and speak more deep about Rotaract and how everything works. 11. Invitation for participation in Rotary Club Nicosia-Aspelia projects (learn how to manage funds and organise events)! Current projects are: - Environmental project - Eating disorders project Plus we are kindly invited to attend Rotary Club Meetings Presentations. Please check a list of Rotary Club Nicosia-Aspelia s Presentations! (will be forwarded soon).
4 4 Club Plans/Needs/Important notes: 1. Every Club member has to arrange personal trainings with our Training Mentor Marianna Trokoudes from Aspelia s Rotary Club Rotaract Committee. Please contact your Committee Directors to arrange trainings be held for the whole Committee (makes more sense). Marianna s contacts: mtrokoudes@spidernet.com.cy Mobile: Also we will have a Club training for all members in September. Details will come later.. 2. Everyone s participation! Please think of 1 interesting guest speaker to invite to our meeting. Ideas to be submitted to our Vice President Chrysanthi within the next 2 weeks! 3. Our Club is still in search of the Place for regular meetings it will be under discussion during August. Keep eyes open! Please suggest any place you like around EUR budget with conference room facilities. 4. Volunteers needed!!! Our Club has several internal projects to accomplish. Please express you interest in one of the following: 4.1. Creation of Rotaract Wheel and Big cardboard logo (for project pictures that will be submitted to the District) 4.2. Palestine celebration (Rotarians Evgeny and Olga volunteered, but we need a few more team members): we may organize a country bulletin/meal to promote/salute this country Cyprus country celebration (in October) 4.4. Eating disorders project together with Elena Stylianidi from Amathusia RAC (please contact our Community Service committee Director Evangelia) 4.5. Website project: programmers/it guru please contact us! 4.6. Drafting of New members Acceptance policy: trial period for new members acceptance has been agreed to last for 2 months (candidates presence at 4 consecutive Regular Club meetings). Official date of acceptance is appointed when the candidate is approved by the Board of Directors. Following the approval, it is nice to have an official/cozy Acceptance Ceremony with photos & congratulations.
5 5 5. Everyone is invited! If any member wants to make a small personal presentation (3-5mins) on any subject of his interest, we can organize a public speaking project. We can even videotape him and give feedback on how to improve the public speaking skills. Please ask our Vice President Chrysanthi for the Schedule of Events or simply express your interest! 6. Open Discussion: how to celebrate Birthdays of our members? The final list of birthdays is being prepared. Our President Yulia will follow up on it and ensure that each member gets a present on his birthday. Please share your ideas! How about bringing a cake/making a small celebration? 7. One more Project idea has been suggested to us by our Treasurer Charis Michael: Public Buses Awareness. The initial idea is to get the routes of the buses, invite a guest speaker and make a presentation. Please participate with Your precious ideas about how we can promote the awareness of the public regarding the buses in Cyprus. 8. Red Cross Project : at the Board of Directors meeting Aspelia Rotary Club has informed us of two cases when Egyptian and Indian students were mistreated by insurance companies in Cyprus. The victims of car accidents need wheelchairs, legal advice and moral support. Nicosia-Aspelia Rotary Club is now investigating the cases from legal point of view trying to help with wheelchairs. We can help by simple, but so valuable attention to the Students visiting them in small groups. Our Vice President Chrysanthi has volunteered to follow up on the legislation to see how we can help them. Insofar please let us know if you have time to visit the Students. Any other support ideas are very welcome!

Other Information/Notes 1. Please get informed: attached document contains presentation on the coming RYLA in Egypt. 2. Please do: - look through the open positions again and think where you would like to join in!!! No one should stay left alone! ;) 3. Date not to miss: - 3 rd August, Tuesday, 2010: unofficial testing of a new place found by Rotarian Stefan which might be used for our meetings at Abbey lounge bar, Diamonds, Chiou 15, Ag. Omologites August, Sunday 11:00-16:00: Green Dot - Badminton on the Beach (Protaras, Vrissiana Beach). Entrance free, bring friends! Details are here: st August 2010: Next Rotaract Meeting (place to follow) + Rotaract Committee Chair Stefan Peter will give us a lecture on Time management - 1 st week of September: Rotaract Varna invites us to join them - 15 th September 2010: our Chartering celebration at the Presidential Palace during Gala Dinner October 2010: RYLA Conference in Egypt - December 2010: mini-congress at Troodos for a weekend. Details to come. - December 2010: visit of Rotaract District Representative in the second week of December February 2011: our Club s photos submission to the District for our Club s evaluation of activities at the District Level. - March 2011: Country Presentation - for Rotaract club Aspelia, the country to present is Palestine.
