By equipping communities with secure and trusted tools that increase user confidence in IoT environment, SOCIOTAL will enable their transition to smart neighbourhood, communities and cities.

Ask people to express formal rules that discourage the adoption of certain systems. Find the positive and negative points of connectivity in the scenarios and build interfaces together to the devices/sensors that will be deployed. Find a productive way of engaging end users targeted in the use cases.

A policy ecology of local neighbourhood groups, city councils, regional incubators, national and EU policy makers. Developercommunities. Citizens that are invited to co-create scenarios that are meaningful to them.

Example: Fix my street. Vertical and horizontal collaboration (individual citizens collaborating with solution promoters and then, collaborating among them in a p2p way). Example: Carpooling. Horizontal collaboration (p-2-p collaboration among citizens). Example: Circle of care and Collaborative housing).

9 05/08/2014 SOCIOTAL Co-creation approach 9 Results Achievements: A set of different situations where IoT could add value were selected to start the discussion. New and feasible use cases were developed and analyzed. These use cases were visualized in terms of location, objects, intelligence, data flow, interface input/output and actors involved. These use cases were evaluated in terms of devices and willingnesstousethesedevicesforthepurposeoftheusecase. By playing out the use case insights were gained in the interaction of the target users with the IoT network. Theworkshopsletsdefineanumberofrequirementsfortheold andnewusecases.

10 05/08/2014 SOCIOTAL Co-creation approach 10 Results Recommendations for the workshops with the target groups: Discussions are most important to elicit. Timehastobemanagedcarefully,oneusecaseisthemaximum to elaborate for workshop. Participants have to be selected according to their level of technical expertise. Collaboration between the SOCIOTAL researchers and the target group is important to guide the participants, since the process can be still too technical, yet also to let the SOCIOTAL researchers engage with the target group to uncover their needs. The setting of the workshop should be set-up before the workshop. A table where all participants can gather around and reach the workshop materials is essential.
