12 Sectin FCA Fld Damage Reductin Plan and cnstruct small fld damage reductin prjects that have nt already been specifically authrized by Cngress. There are tw types f prjects: structural and nnstructural. Structural prjects may include levees, fld walls, diversin channels, pumping plants, and bridge mdificatins. Nnstructural alternatives, which have little r n effect n water surface elevatins, might include such measures as fldprfing, relcatin f structures, and fld warning systems.

13 Sectin 208 Clearing and Snagging 1954 FCA Sectin 208 f the 1954 Fld Cntrl Act prvides authrity fr the Crps f Engineers fr channel clearing and excavatin, with limited embankment cnstructin by the use f materials frm the clearing peratin t reduce nuisance fld damages caused by debris and minr shaling f rivers.

14 Hurricane and Strm Damage Reductin Sectin 103 f the 1962 River and Harbr Act Study, design, and cnstruct small castal strm damage reductin prjects in partnership with nnfederal gvernment agencies, such as cities, cunties, special authrities, r units f state gvernment. Beach nurishment (structural) and fldprfing (nn-structural) are examples f strm damage reductin prjects cnstructed utilizing the Sectin 103 authrity.

22 Emergency Operatins PL 84-99, Fld Cntrl and Castal Emergencies (FCCE) fr emergency management activities establishes an emergency fund fr preparedness fr emergency respnse t natural disasters; fr fld fighting and rescue peratins; fr rehabilitatin f fld cntrl and hurricane prtectin structures. Disaster preparedness activities include crdinatin, planning, training and cnduct f respnse exercises with lcal, state and federal agencies. Undertake activities including disaster preparedness, Advance Measures, emergency peratins (Fld Respnse and Pst Fld Respnse), rehabilitatin f fld cntrl wrks threatened r destryed by fld and prvisins f emergency water due t drught r cntaminated surce. Prvides technical assistance befre, during, and after fld events. This assistance can range frm hw t place sandbags t helping design a permanent fld cntrl structure. Authrized t prvide sandbags and pumps t cities and lcal levee districts.

23 Pst Strm Rehabilitatin PL 84-99, an eligible fld prtectin system can be rehabilitated if damaged by a fld event. The fld system wuld be restred t its pre-disaster status Have t be in the Rehabilitatin and Inspectin Prgram (RIP) prir t the fld event. Acceptable peratin and maintenance by the public levee spnsr are verified by levee inspectins cnducted by the Crps n a regular basis. The Crps has the respnsibility t crdinate levee repair issues with interested federal, state, and lcal agencies fllwing natural disaster events where fld cntrl wrks are damaged.
