7 MBA Introduction The Thomas University MBA is a professional and applied graduate degree, preparing the student for leadership in the business world of the twenty-first century through readings, research, and case study analysis. This MBA Program builds from the strong undergraduate program in business administration. The program is open to students with undergraduate majors in any area (assuming passage of six appropriate prerequisites for non-business majors). Students should be able to complete the program in one and a half years of online classes.

11 MBA Program Duration The normal duration for the MBA program is 1,5 year. Maximum period of candidature is 3 years.

12 Assessment Students will be assessed via a combination of written assignment, final examination, participation in discussion and chats, assignments and quizzes. Grading System Letter Grade Numerical Equivalent A= B= C= D= F=Below 60

16 MODULE DETAILS MBA600 Applied Economics Acourse on economics for managers. Covered will be both macro and micro perspectives on resources and labor costing, influence of governments and consumers on the performance of the firm, and the analysis of economic trends. MBA601 Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management Acourse for general managers on human behavior in organizations and professional personnel practices. Indepth study of such issues as ethics, organizational structure and design, staffing, and diversity in the modern workplace. Also to be explored are topics on job design and training, communication, leadership, group and team dynamics, and health/safety in the workplace. MBA614 Accounting and Decision Making Astudy of the uses of various managerial accounting reports and techniques employed by business managers to control the operations of a company. Special emphasis will be placed on the control of manufacturing operations. MBA615 Management Information Systems Astudy of computers and information in business. The course will address systems concepts, information management, and decision making, as well as the use of specific MIS programs and new applications of information technology in the modern corporation.

17 MODULE DETAILS MBA619 Business Law Course examines the laws and regulations governing the operation of businesses in the United States. Particular emphasis will be placed on current legal issues facing American corporations operating overseas and at home, including contracts, liabilities, physical and intellectual properties, risk and insurance, and technology transfer. Special focus will be placed on business ethics. MBA620 International Business A study providing a comparative analysis of international business competitiveness and management. Special topics to be covered in the course will include joint ventures, mechanics of trade, and cultural influences on trade and negotiations. MBA645 Financial Management Prerequisite: MBA614. A case study approach applying economic and financial theory to specific business problems. Advanced topics in capital budgeting, dividend policy, and capital costs will be covered. MBA650 Research and Statistics Course concentrates on basic statistical analysis for the manager, covering both descriptive and inferential analysis of data, as well as statistical reference techniques

18 MODULE DETAILS MBA662 Leadership This course studies the development of leadership in business. Specific emphasis is on the theocratical multilevel models of leadership in organizations. MBA663 Operations Management and Technology A study of design, analysis, and control of transformation processes in the allocation and use of physical resources to produce goods and services. Advanced techniques of inventory planning, logistics, queuing theory, and total quality management will be covered. MBA675 Marketing Management A case study course which emphasizes development of the strategic positioning of the firm and its brands, product lines, products, and services within its competitive and legal environment. Coverage of advanced concepts of marketing research, product development, placement and distribution, pricing and promotion will also be treated. MBA690 Business Strategy and Policy Prerequisite: Completion of all previous MBA courses or permission of the instructor. A capstone case course which examines the firm s strategic perspectives, including its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Through case study format, students will learn how the firm s strategic planning influences and is influenced by its various internal and external constituencies (stakeholders, stockholders, employees, competitors, the community, etc.)
