3 Exercise Black Smoke March 27, 2008 Scenario: Significant wildland urban interface fire in the Capreol area. Three hour tabletop exercise and one hour debrief Conducted by EmerGeo Solutions Inc. Participants included: Participants included: CGS Community Control Group CGS staff EOC support staff Police, Fire & EMS SDHU staff Red Cross Sudbury branch Ministry of Natural Resources EmerGeo Solutions staff
4 Exercise Black Smoke Orient CCG members to the functionality and the equipment in the EOC. Demonstrate procedures for handling routine and urgent requests using WebEOC/EmerGeo. Demonstrate the effectiveness of using WebEOC/EmerGeo software for department logs. Exercise CCG decision-making processes and identify areas needing refinement. Evaluate inter-departmental and interagency relations during emergencies. Identify conflicts between departments/agencies roles & responsibilities. 10 Objectives Identify situations or issues that will require new initiatives in current departmental and directorate policies, plans and procedures. Evaluate EOC procedures. Provide an opportunity for the participants to gain a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities during an emergency. To comply with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act requirements for the purpose of annual training and exercise.

6 James Bay Coast Evacuation April 27, 2008 Evacuation of James Bay Coastal region resulting from threat of community flooding CGS received 45 evacuees from Kashechewan on April 27, 2008 Evacuees were housed at the Millennium Centre in Capreol Kashechewan residents left CGS on May 3, 2008 and were repatriated to their community Preparations were under way to accept 75 residents from Attawapiskat request cancelled
7 Emergency Management Program JEPP 2008/2009 $20,000 application for rewrite of MERP Received $9,000 commitment $ 95,369 Fire Services Application for Light Urban Search & Rescue Equipment Total cost of project $190, cost shared 50/50 city and federal government Decision pending
8 Emergency Management Program Mobile Command Unit Received on May 26 th, 2008 Training on the unit took place on May 28 th Operational date: upon completion of documentation, manuals and staff training (30 to 60 days)
9 Emergency Management Program WebEOC Upgraded to version 7.1 from 6.5 Board design upgrades in the new format Staff training to follow installation Continued development of boards
