1 Ubiquity Mobile Finance Report 3Q /11/2015

2 Mobile Finance market to grow further during the first nine months of 2015 (+29%). During the first nine months of 2015 the market of Mobile Finance in Italy increased by 29% in comparison with the same period of the last year. The usage of SMS related to banking services keeps on growing among the client base regarding crucial and time sensitive services, such as transactional alerts on plastic cards (credit, debit and prepaid) and bank accounts alerts. During these months of 2015 the volume of SMS sent by the panel of monitored Italian banks 1 reached 507,1 million, +29% in comparison to 392,9 million of SMS sent in the same period of This result confirms the value of SMS as a communication channel that is offered by the Italian banks to their final clients, as well as important security role and anti-fraud functions of this service. 1 For more information see Methodological Note

3 SMS Alert services offer The analysis of SMS Alert service supply shows further increase (+34%) of SMS linked to credit cards that represent a major part of overall volumes (78%). Additionally Bank account services had a 24% increase reaching a 12% share on total volumes handled. Caring & Service stands for 8% of the total supply while Marketing and Trading services play a marginal role of 2%.

4 Notification services are still predominant (70%), followed by information services (29%) and dispositive services with a 2% share and with a little increase. Almost all monitored services belong to Push typology.

5 Methodological Note This Report is based on Monitored SMS volume of the 20 most important Italian banks, a privileged observation sample to track statistically all trends in mobile services adoption within Italian territory. This is a privileged point due to Ubiquity s leadership within Italian market in managing Alert SMS for the most important Italian banks. Monitored services Monitored SMS services have been clustered by these categories: SMS services on Credit Cards: these are information, dispositive and notification services linked to credit, debit and prepaid cards use such as payments with retailing POS, withdrawal from ATM, online purchasing, checks on monthly available amounts on credit cards, etc; SMS services on Bank Accounts: these are information, dispositive and notification services linked to bank account use such as Balance, Movements (TT transfers and payments), phone recharge, alerting on low cash flow and minimum threshold reached etc. ; Marketing SMS services: these are communications and promotion initiatives from Banks; Trading SMS services: these are information, dispositive and notification services linked to Trading such as checks on stock index, checks on Best & Worst daily stock shares, portfolio equivalent value, currency analysis, etc; Caring & Service SMS services: these are preparatory services to the use of other access channels to Bank (Internet Banking, ATM, etc. ) such as confirmations of service activation, and services linked to the security of Internet Banking and information.
