2 Purpose: This is a joint appointment across WDHB and ADHB to: Support the development and implementation of Auckland and Waitemata DHB strategies to advance Pacific health gain KEY TASKS Contribute to the development, implementation and management of DHB Pacific health strategies and plans EXPECTED OUTCOMES Model and communicate DHB Pacific health vision and values and goals to deliver improved Pacific health outcomes Contribute to the DHBs planning processes specifically in relation to Pacific health gain Develop, implement and manage aspects of the Pacific Strategic/Action Plan as requested by the Pacific Health Gains Manager Support the establishment and maintenance of collaborative relationships across Waitemata and Auckland DHBs. Facilitate cross functional teamwork to ensure coordinated, consistent, effective and efficient achievement of DHB Pacific health vision and strategy Develop mechanisms that improve engagement with Pacific service users in general and in relation to specific projects Participate in intersectoral initiatives and build key relationships with other government and non government agencies and providers that improve Pacific health Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders groups and ensure effective two way communication Manage projects that contribute to the DHBs vision and goals for Pacific health gain Ensure the delivery of quality provider services through the development and ongoing review of service specifications to ensure that services are responsive to needs in relation to specific services as identified by Pacific Health Gains Manager Ensure ongoing and active monitoring of contracts and where and when appropriate initiate formal evaluation processes Provide high quality monitoring reports to the Pacific Health Gains Manager as requested. Ensure providers are visited on a regular basis (3-4 monthly) Manage Pacific provider issues and projects as requested Ensure effective communication and that the appropriate levels and standards of customer service are delivered. Ensure resources are used effectively and ensure priorities are met. Page 2

3 Complete project work as requested Projects and program management Lead projects as required, eg. youth health Actively champion management of change initiatives and inspire colleagues to achieve operational goals in relation to specific projects and programs Maintain own professional development Demonstrate professional behaviour at all times Participate in the performance management process including the development and implementation of an individual personal development plan Maintain appropriate external development Other reasonable tasks required by the manager to meet the overall purpose of the role Recognise Individual responsibility for Workplace Health and Safety under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 Perform all requested tasks as agreed with the manager Health and safety policies are read and understood and relevant procedures applied to own work activities. Workplace hazards are identified and reported, including self management of hazards where appropriate. Can identify health and safety representative for area. Page 3

4 Person Specification ESSENTIAL Qualification Bachelors level Business or Health related qualification that is recognized by NZQF or the equivalent body of knowledge Experience Some Pacific health experience and experience in the Health and Disability sector Demonstrated sound policy writing and business case development Experience in project management DESIRED Post Graduate Diploma or Master s degree in Public Health Fluency in Pacific youth language Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Proven project management skills Proven ability to maintain effective relationships within a team Ability to manage many stakeholders ability to move with confidence in both Pacific and non Pacific worlds Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development Understanding of Pacific and non Pacific political and structural systems Sound MS Office ability, including basic Outlook, Word and Excel A current drivers license and able to drive a manual car Knowledge of socio-economic determinants of health Understanding of Pacific values and beliefs and the relationship to health literacy, wellbeing and service utilization Knowledge of and experience operationalising and integrating Pacific health models specifically in relation to young Pacific people.
