15 Shop Floor Data Collection The recording and evaluation of production data is a very important source of information for all companies. All relevant data with regard to person-, order- or company-related events have to be collected and analyzed. The integration of these packed data in PPS or ERP systems delivers the information and transparency required for the management s decisions in the day-to-day business. Kaba offers you a broad range of different PDC terminals with different performances features. We give you advice for choosing exactly those products required for the solution you wish. As entry-level terminal for PDC, we offer you B-Net 95 20; the new standard for all requirements is B-Net Our PC-based terminal B-Net combines as multifunction terminal in your company traditional PDC with individual solutions in form of universal information processing. The robust, fibre-glass reinforced housings of all terminals are resistant against environmental influences such as heat, dust, cold and humidity. Therefore, they are also particularly suitable for rough production environments. 15 Sagit, Italy If a customer looks at the price tag as an individual parameter, Kaba is not in the lead position. But if you consider the efficiency, quality, performance and the technological standard of the solution, Kaba has the best system you can choose. Paolo Parlagreco Head of EDP of Unilever Italy

16 Shop Floor Data Collection Shop Floor Data Collection Terminal B-Net With its functionality, great user-friendliness, and appealing design, the B-Net is the ideal device for your entrylevel start into shop floor data collection. Its price-performance ratio makes its use as a workstation terminal an attractive option as well. With six function keys, you record start and end of processing, overhead orders, and In/Out times of your employees. If an optional CCD scanner is connected, barcoded document information can be read thus avoiding manual entries and 16 reducing the error rate. If PDC recording processes are to be changed, the parameterization of the B-Net terminal allows adapting to the new requirements. Information is shown on a graphic display, the integration into networks is realized by a standard Ethernet interface. Shop Floor Data Collection Terminal B-Net The B-Net supplies all necessary data about current states and processes within your company. It is the standard terminal for all shop floor data collection requirements. The flexible dialogs allow you to adapt collection processes exactly to the individual needs of your enterprise. Thus, B-Net satisfies the most demanding customer requirements for practiceoriented data collection. The terminal is delivered generally with the application B-Client PDC 3 for PDC. A special highlight is the use of the B-Net with the B-Client XML3. In this configuration, the adaptation to changed collection processes can be realized easily by means of XML dialogs. For shop floor data collection at the workplace B-Net 95 20

17 B-Net Multifunction Terminal B-Net is a multifunction terminal. It is used for all requirements in the area of shop floor data collection. At the same time, special applications can be used for obtaining companywide information. The trend in your company is the universal information processing due to the use of this PCbased terminal. One of the extraordinary features is that this PC terminal was designed completely without fan or ventilation slots. Like this, it is very silent, and contamination and humidity cannot penetrate any longer through the fan into the inside of the terminal in rough environments. Compared with most industry PCs and PDC terminals on the market, B-Net provides not only a very high operational availability coverage 24 hours a day but also some more advantages. In addition to the worldwide usable supply unit, all readers are also integrated. In most cases a contactless reading method is used (LEGIC, Mifare, Hitag, etc.). The second reader that can be integrated is mostly a barcode scanner for collecting bar-coded production documents. A striking feature of the 12.1 TFT display suitable for daylight is its luminosity. Even with strong overhead or ceiling lights, the orders released at this workplace together with accompanying information can be perfectly read. The display is sensitive to touch and can be easily operated with gloves. Different than a mere industrial PC, the B-Net has many functions permitting easy and error-free handling by the employees. The handling has not been designed for users who work with the computer every day and know how to use it but for users who enter data in a process, e.g. a production order. The users are guided through the operating sequence in their own language; the entries are then checked and validated before they are processed in the system. The integrated MDC (Machine Data Collection) functionalities, i.e. the recording of machine cycles and malfunctions, form the connection between MDC and PDC. 23 Access Control Who has access when, where, and how long? Kaba provides you with a wide variety of products for an access control system adapted to your needs. In case of complex access solutions, the control units are installed in the secured area. They work highly autonomously by making their own decisions and plausibility checks as required. For a mere recording on site, terminals and sub-terminals with different performance data are available. The sub-terminals transmit the recorded information to the access control, which makes the necessary decision. All personnel and time data, as well as profiles necessary for authorization checks, are stored in the terminals. They decide autonomously whether access is granted or denied. Special access solutions for IT cabinets or computers complete the product range. Furthermore, doors that are actuated offline can be integrated into the access solution by means of the Kaba elolegic components. Other mechanical and mechatronical locking systems, safety and automatic doors as well as revolving doors complete Kaba s product range. 23 Banque de France, Paris A dedicated Kaba team ensured that our high aims were met by 100%. Hats off for scheduling, commitment, and the quality during the management of the project. Alain Perez Manager of the IT project

The B-Net has its own decision making logic as well as plausibility checks and is therefore highly autonomous. In addition, the Access Control Manager can be freely programmed via AVISO routines. In this way, further security 24 Access Control Unit Bedanet Because of its decision-making logic and plausibility checks, the Bedanet access control manager is highly autonomous. Up to 16 subterminals can be connected so that all management functions, including time and attendance, can be monitored. The access control unit checks the data delivered by the subterminals and then decides whether a door opens or not. To fulfill control and surveillance functions, such as pedestrian flow control systems, escape and rescue routes, elevator control, activation of alarm systems or video surveillance, the Bedanet has a series of digital inputs and outputs that can be assigned variably. The Bedanet also features a powerful CPU with a large memory. The Bedanet is able to interpret and evaluate different badges. This can be very useful for example in case of mergers if different badge systems have been used and are still be used. The Bedanet access control manager is available in two different versions. One version is a unit in a metal housing ready for installation on the wall as electromagnetic compatible unit. The second one is a 19 rack version for installation in standard IT racks.to implement total access control within an enterprise, the Bedanet access control manager has a 10/100 Mbps autosensing Ethernet interface. 26 Access Control 26 Terminals B-Net / / with Access Control Functions Optionally, an access option can be integrated into these time recording terminals so that they are an intelligent access control unit for low safety requirements in addition to the time recording. They are integrated into a network via an Ethernet interface. Depending on the model, up to four subterminals can be connected for access control to the corresponding terminal. In addition, the terminals are provided with 2 relays for door openers and 4 digital inputs, for example for the monitoring of the doors (e.g. door frame contact, sabotage contact). Subterminal Bedanet The subterminal Bedanet can be adapted individually to your needs thanks to its different options. Optionally, there are different reader systems or a display. With an optional PIN keypad you secure access additionally. In addition to the badge content, the PIN entry is checked. The decision is made by the control in the secured area. B-Net Subterminal Fingerprint In case of the identification solution with the B-Net FP subterminal, the biometric finger data or a user are recorded. With the enrollment of the employee, two fingers are registered one after the other and assigned to an identification number. The terminal identifies the employee by matching the employee s fingerprint with a template containing the employee s personnel number. The employee simply has to press a button and position the registered finger on the sensor surface of the scanner. Instructions for the procedure are displayed to the user. The terminal compares the current fingerprint to all saved reference templates (1:n comparison) and confirms the identity of the employee in case these fingerprints are identical. The identification number belonging to the identified finger template is then further processed in the superior IT system according to the corresponding authorizations. AFIS technology enables the storage of templates in an exchangeable format. The representation of biometric algorithms in B-Net FP guarantees a response in less than one second when comparing the templates, even with large amounts of data. The administration of all stored templates and the integration into a network can take place via a central computer. The computer distributes the recorded templates via the network to the B-Net FP subterminals once. The B-Net FP subterminal is applicable not only for access control requirements, but also for solutions in data recording, for example time recording.

27 Bedanet and Bedanet Subterminals The Bedanet and subterminals are typical access control subterminals. They collect the access data and transmit these data to the control that decides whether access is granted or denied. If access is granted, the door is released by a potential-free contact, and an acoustic signal is emitted by the subterminal. If access is not authorized, a red LED is flashing in addition to the signal. The Bedanet is built into a sealed plastic unit. Like this, the terminal achieves protection class IP 66, which allows it to be used under adverse environmental conditions. Due to its small and compact design, it can be easily installed on door frames. 27 The Bedanet subterminal is ideal for mounting in standard flush-mounted boxes and light switch systems. It is optionally available with an illuminated PIN keypad. Bedanet and Bedanet Subterminals In areas with relatively unspecific security requirements, mechanic locking systems have been increasingly replaced by mechatronic or digital standalone solutions. The integral operation of CardLink compatible components with a LEGIC medium as connecting element allows a convenient solution and thus a connection of the on-line access solutions with mechatronical standalone access systems. Standalone components Kaba Elolegic c-lever This absolutely lock-independent metal fitting can be mounted afterwards to any door and be operated with all LEGIC media. For emergency opening, Kaba elolegic c-lever can be combined with mechanic and mechatronical cylinders. The metal fitting is certified according to VdS class B and suitable for fire protection doors according to EN The external fitting is spray water protected according to protection class IP54. Kaba Elolegic Digital Cylinder Kaba elolegic digital cylinder is ideal for increasing the safety standard of a door. Changes of the door are not required. The mechanical cylinder is removed, the Kaba elolegic digital cylinder is mounted. It s that easy and safe. The cylinder is also certified according to VdS class B and suitable for fire protection doors according to EN The external knob is spray water protected according to protection class IP54. 28 Access Control B-Net Subterminal for IT Cabinets In cooperation with BURG, the leading manufacturer of closing handles for IT cabinets, Kaba has developed a solution for electronic access to IT racks. The aim of this solution is to unlock cabinet doors only for authorized persons with badges using the LEGIC transponder technology. The access system for an IT rack consists of the universal handle IEG or a Rittal TS 8 handle and a Kaba subterminal B-Net The respective handle is equipped with a LEGIC reader, a LED that displays if the device is ready for operation and an 28 acoustic signal transmitter. It is then connected to the electronic control unit of the B-Net 91 06, which is mounted in the secure inside of a cabinet. The data content of the LEGIC chip is read, transmitted and acknowledged contactlessly. The access control Bedanet or B- Net receives this data record in order to decide whether the access to the IT rack is authorized or not. It is compared to the stored master records and profiles and validated. If the access is granted, it is transmitted to the B-Net This device now controls the electronic lock for the door-opening, and the desired access is possible. The B-Net also monitors the contacts of the cabinet doors, e.g. door open, and reports the door status to the control unit. For smaller companies or dedicated applications, the B-Net offers an offline functionality. This means that up to 10 employees can have the authorization for opening the relevant IT cabinet. With this solution, an access control is not required because the decision is made by the B-Net itself. PC Authorization Reader B-Net The authorization reader B Net protects your computer against unauthorized access to the software application and thus against manipulation. It is connected to a computer by means of its USB interface and integrated in the corresponding software. It is used for acquiring information from a LEGIC data carrier. If, for example, the employees place their Legic badge or LEGIC key on the reader, the data are read, transmitted and checked. If the data coincide, the authorization for access to the computer and the application is given. Depending on the requirements, there is a possibility to record and personalize the access by entering a password in addition. Thus, it can be documented who has carried out or activated which procedure. The badge or key must remain in the read area of the authorization reader during the entire access to the computer. If the LEGIC data carrier is removed from the read area of the B-Net 91 07, the computer and its applications are immediately blocked. You can use B-Net universally for the identification of a user, for example: for Kaba CardLink functions as reader for PC authorization as ID media coding station as write unit for biometric templates.
