1 Examples of cooperation to promote business activities between Japan and Arab countries December 16, 2013 Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan On the occasion of 3 rd Japan-Arab Economic Forum, which was started on December 16 in Tokyo, 55 examples of recent cooperation between Japan and Arab countries were announced. These examples include wide range of area, such as trade and investment promotion, oil and gas, energy conservation and renewable energy, infrastructure, medical care, agriculture and food and human resource development. It is expected that the cooperation will promote business activities between Japan and Arab countries and contribute to further development of Japan-Arab economic relations. Trade and Investment Promotion 1. Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Iraq for the Promotion and Protection of Investment approved by both the Diet or National Assembly to entry into force in future 2. Agreement between Japan and the State of Kuwait for the Promotion and Protection of Investment approved by both the Diet or National Assembly to entry into force in future 3. Memorandum of Cooperation concerning bilateral trade and investment promotion between Japan and Economic Development Board (EDB), Kingdom of Bahrain 4. Cooperation concerning bilateral trade and investment promotion between Japan and Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (PAIPED), Sultanate of Oman 5. Cooperation concerning bilateral trade and investment promotion between Japan and General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Arab Republic of Egypt 6. Memorandum of Cooperation concerning bilateral trade and investment promotion between Japan and Moroccan Investment Development Agency (AMDI), Kingdom of Morocco 7. Signing for renewal of contracts on Joint Oil Storage Project between Saudi Aramco and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) to promote Japan s energy security by agreeing to keep the tanks always filled more than half with crude oil 10. MOU between Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to enhance Oil & Gas production utilizing Japanese latest technologies, and cooperate in human resource development for Abu Dhabi 11.
