1 TRADE TRAINING CENTRES IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM Under the Trade Training Centres in Schools Program (the Program) only Individual Project Proposals that will deliver Certificate III (AQF Level 3) or direct pathway training courses leading to Certificate III (AQF Level 3) will be considered for funding. Direct pathway training courses include: Certificate I and II courses; and pre-vocational programs, VET taster programs that help students make informed choices about their trade occupations or accredited VET programs with structured workplace learning placements. NOTE: Department of Education Training will not consider projects for funding that propose to offer only/or predominantly prevocational and taster courses. These courses must be offered in conjunction with other Certificate level courses eligible for Program funding. Eligible Training Courses* for Program funding are: Traditional Trades: These are Certificate III (AQF Level 3) or direct pathway qualifications required for occupations on the National Skills Needs List (NSNL) and Agriculture (Australia wide) and Horticulture (in rural and regional Australia only) occupations. These occupations are listed at Occupations in Local Demand (OLD): In addition to the range of eligible traditional trade Certificate III (AQF Level 3) or direct pathway training courses noted above, Education Authorities, in conjunction with schools in their sector, may put forward a strong case for DEEWR to consider whether to approve training courses for funding in occupations experiencing local or regional skill shortages or emerging demand (OLD category). These qualifications include an investment in either infrastructure or equipment of a specialist nature, similar to that required for traditional trade qualifications. Further information on approval of courses under the OLD category is set out in Section 3.3 of the Program Guidelines at Department of Education and Training will not approve funding for training courses that do not require a significant capital investment for building infrastructure and/or equipment, such as Business and Administration, Retail, Performing Arts and Property Services qualifications. The Round Five (Phase One) Eligible Qualifications list below sets out the name and code of: eligible Certificate III (and higher) training courses in traditional trades on the National Skills Needs List (NSNL), and Agriculture and Horticulture occupations; eligible pathway training courses for each of the above Certificate III (or higher) qualifications. Further information about these qualifications can be found at about the Round Five Eligible Qualifications can be directed to tradetraining@deewr.gov.au. Eligible Training Courses being offered through Trade Training Centres must be suitable for school delivery, particularly in relation to equipment requirements, occupational health and safety requirements, any licensing and/or legal requirements and completion of essential on-the-job training requirements. NOTE: Units that require the slaughtering of animals are ineligible under the Program.
