3 What is Nationwide YourLife Current Assumption UL? We designed Nationwide YourLife Current Assumption UL to be flexible, reasonably priced permanent life insurance protection. With a guaranteed interest rate, it also gives your clients low-risk growth potential. (Keep in mind that all guarantees are based on Nationwide s claims-paying ability.) Plus, Nationwide YourLife Current Assumption UL offers services and features, like streamlined materials and tools and a simplified application process, that make it easier for you to explain and sell. Be sure to choose a product that meets long-term life insurance needs, especially if personal situations change for example, marriage, birth of a child or job promotion. Weigh the costs of the policy, and understand that life insurance has fees and charges that vary with sex, health, age and tobacco use. Riders that customize a policy to fit individual needs usually carry an additional charge. Allprotections and guarantees are subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. 3

Nationwide YourLife Current Assumption UL can help by offering permanent protection and conservative growth in one product. The tax-advantaged accumulation and income tax-free loans and surrenders from their nonmodified endowment contract (MEC) policy give your clients an efficient way to plan for the future. And it can help them multi-task by offering a single, cost effective policy that can cover their entire family (with the help of optional riders). Flexible features they can use during their lifetime Nationwide offers your clients an indemnity-style long-term care rider that doesn t require receipts to receive benefits. Instead, payments go directly to the policyowner or the policy s trustee (unlike competitors who pay the care facility directly), allowing clients to maintain control of their money and spend it as they wish. And because beneficiaries receive the death benefit if long-term care is never needed, you eliminate the use it or lose it objection to many traditional long-term care policies. Keep in mind that using the long-term care benefit is an acceleration of the death benefit and reduces it. Care should be taken to make sure each client s life insurance needs will continue to be met, even if the rider pays out in full. Also, this rider may not be available in every state, may be known by different names in different states and is available for an additional charge. The monthly long-term care benefit will be the lesser of 2% of the long-term care specified amount or the HIPAA rate for the given year. Loans from a MEC will generally be taxable, and if taken prior to age 59 1 /2, may be subject to a 10% tax penalty. Unpaid loans will reduce the death benefit payable, and if the policy lapses with a loan outstanding, it will be treated as a distribution and may be subject to income tax. 2 Riders usually have an additional cost, may be known by different names in different states and may not be available in all states. 7
