9 USG Pandemic Plan Developed a formal Pandemic Plan with four basic response levels: Level 1 = provide awareness education and information Level 2 = provide medical screening and employee personal protective equipment & travel restrictions to specific locations based on local risk (anticipate elevated absenteeism) Level 3 = reduce exposure by reducing operations using appropriate business continuity options (anticipate increased absenteeism) Level 4 = implement business continuity plans for locations to maintain critical business functions 9

10 USG Pandemic Plan Level 1 When a confirmed, effective human-to-human transmission of highly pathogenic influenza occurs within your continent, facilities will be instructed to: Educate employees on swine flu, our emergency preparedness plans, and use of the medical questionnaire as a self assessment tool. Distribute awareness handout following presentation. Communicate Pandemic Preparedness plan with company health care provider. Communicate Pandemic Preparedness plan with critical suppliers, key non-usg support personnel, etc. Identify routes of entry and methods for controlling building access. 10

11 USG Pandemic Plan Level 1 Identify medical screeners list and conduct training. Conduct N95 Respirator training with all employees. Ensure sufficient PPE supplies are available and secure. Place order for replacement PPE supplies. Offer flu vaccinations for those who have yet to have an inoculation for the current flu season Update emergency contact information for all employees and key vendors 11

12 USG Pandemic Plan Level 2 When a confirmed human case of highly pathogenic influenza occurs in a facility s immediate geographical region or a government agency quarantine of a local region occurs, facilities will be instructed to: Make PPE (Nitrile Gloves and Respirators) available to employees. Begin medical surveillance and monitoring for the building. Evaluate the possibility of reducing work schedules and allowing employees to work from home. Cancel non-required visits to the building. Distribute communication to critical suppliers, contractors, etc., covering building access provisions and how they will be impacted. 12
