At AMYA, our mission is to enrich the lives of under-privileged and at-risk groups. Our primary purpose is to produce fund-raising programs and unique events that further propels our mission to serve mankind. With your support, and the support of the British community, the impact we can make in the lives of at-risk, under-privileged and needy people is almost infinite! I m delighted to hear over 300 members will be out in force throughout November collecting at train stations and other places around the country. It s great to see so many young people giving up their own time to help those who have served our country while remembering those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. This volunteer work represents an essential part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community s really mportant contribution to UK national life - whether through helping to raise wider awareness and understanding of the Islamic faith, or fundraising and feeding the homeless, donating blood, and other charitable acts. I applaud the efforts of the AMA to strive for peace and to build bridges between diverse communities... I therefore applaud the AMA ethos Love for All Hatred for None That underpins all their work. As one of the oldest Islamic Communities in the Capital, who build the first London Mosque, the Ahmadis have been an important part of the history of the city and it is fitting that they are also part of the historic celebration for the Diamond Jubilee. Over 1,000 visits to care homes across the country FEED THE HOMELESS Approximately 35,000 homeless feeding packs distributed across the UK RT HON ERIC PICKLES, THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR COMMUNITIES The Ahmadiyya Muslim community plays a significant role in promoting community cohesion and great events like this show Britain at its best. 44 5

4 FUNDS RAISED SINCE ITS INAUGURATION THE CHARITY CHALLENGE HAS RAISED OVER 1.6M FOR GOOD CAUSES 400K 375K 350K 325K 300K 275K 250K 225K 200K 360K The Charity Challenge is also unique in the sense that it is entirely organised and managed by the youth HISTORY OF THE CHARITY CHALLENGE 240K 250K K 164K 140K 175K 150K 125K 100K 75K 50K 25K 0K 113K 104K 30K K PREVIOUS SPONSORS AND SUPPORTERS What started off as a 26 mile marathon walk in 1985, raising a few thousand pounds for worthwhile causes, has now evolved into a showpiece event for the Association known as the Charity Challenge, where close to few 2,000 people participate in raising upwards of 300,000 for a number of local and national charities. In recent years the venue for the Charity Challenge has rotated each year thereby allowing different regions the honour of hosting the event. The chosen region, with the help of the Central Executive Committee, is responsible for organising the Charity Challenge which includes planning the route, liaising with external organisations such as the police and the council, site security, providing accommodation for participants and preparing food for close to 2,000 people. This adds an extra dimension and unique flavour to the Charity Challenge with each region competing to ensure the latest Charity Challenge is better than the previous one. The Charity Challenge is also unique in the sense that it is entirely organised and managed by the youth, who are unpaid volunteers. MANY OTHER SUPPORTERS 6 7

LETTER OF APPRECIATION TO AMYA SIMON GILLESPIE Chief Executive British Heart Foundationverunt JENNY PEARCE Fundraising Executive Great Ormand Street Hospital itish Heart Foundation scientists are fighting Brfor every heartbeat for babies born with heart defects to the millions of adults affected by heart disease, BHF scientists are carrying the fight for every heartbeat into the future. We have already made heart research history. And with the help of our researchers tireless work, we will uncover the mysteries that could help us regenerate hearts, form new arteries and muscle, and ultimately stop heart disease in its tracks. In 2012/13 we invested 90.7 million to fund vital and ambitious research to save the lives of future generations. You have kindly contributed to this. Your fundraising and donation of approximately 15,000 is being used to fund this vital work. It costs 200 to fund one of our young scientists for a whole day. We currently provide the salaries for around 500 postdoctoral scientists who work in research teams right across the UK. Your support this year is the equivalent of 75 days of funding for one of these scientists. Thank you. You are making a difference and fighting for every heartbeat. eat Ormond Street Hospital Children s Charity Gris delighted to receive the continuing support of Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association. Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the world s leading children s hospitals with the broadest range of dedicated, children s healthcare specialists under one roof in the UK. The hospital s pioneering research and treatment gives hope to children who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often lifethreatening conditions, from across the country and abroad. The support we receive from Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is helping us to continue with our ambitious plans to redevelop twothirds of the hospital. We are part way through our four phase redevelopment programme and last year opened our newest building which features larger rooms, more space for parents to sleep along their child in comfort, increased privacy for our patients and better working environments for the staff. But our work is not done. We still have too many patients being treated in wards which are cramped, outdated and no longer fit-for-purpose. By working together you can help us to raise funds which may go towards the new building which is due to open in
