It can even work in the other direction and find mailing addresses for geocoordinates (such as GPS position data). Parameters determine the degree of error tolerance for address entries: Binary: exact match required Phonetic: includes identical-sounding addresses (entering Kalsrue produces Karlsruhe) Fuzzy: includes addresses with similar spellings In reverse geocoding, PTV xlocate Server identifies the mailing address for a particular geocoordinate from the reference database. Several coordinate formats are supported, e. g. Geodecimal, GeoMinSec, WGS 84 and PTV Mercator. Vehicle profiles and routing behaviours can be configured as needed. Lorry routing takes truck attributes, driving times and rest periods into account. 12 PTV XMAPMATCH SERVER PTV xmapmatch Server Tracking Premium The PTV xmapmatch Server validates and corrects a row of received GPS coordinates (tracks) using the underlying street maps. This refined data can be processed with other applications, e.g. the PTV xroute Server. This interaction allows PTV xmapmatch Server to form the basis for performance and compliance measurement. FUNCTIONS Correction of inaccurate GPS signals (tracks) Inclusion of map data (tunnels, bans, etc.) Two modes with numerous settings options: Local: Map comparison of each individual GPS point without considering previous positions Global: Comparison while considering extended logics (history, direction, speed etc.). Plausibility checks (history/crawler) Recognition of standstill Dense signals (second-long intervals) and sparse signals (minute-long intervals) are processible Calculation of the total time of the track Calculation of the total length of the track Produces the route as a contiguous list of segments Produces the NetworkClass and SpeedLimit (explicit SpeedLimits) for each segment TECHNOLOGY PTV xmapmatch Server verifies external position information (normally GPS tracks) and rectifies GPS inaccuracies. The actually driven routes are returned in a format relevant to the digital map. This data is the basis for a number of transport-related variance analyses in a data warehouse context: Detailed testing of toll calculations and subcontractor bills. Later calculation of actually caused emissions. Analysis of routes and driving style (fuel consumption, speed limit violations, rest times, etc.). PTV xmapmatch Server also helps with assessing how far actual transport movements deviate from the original plan (e.g. using the PTV xroute Server or PTV xtour Server). It forms an important component in Pay as you drive scenarios (toll, insurance, taxes) and can if there is sufficient input data form the basis for producing speed graphs. PTV xmapmatch Server also allows you to process travelled routes, which can be exchanged amongst users from navigation communities.

14 PTV xtour server PTV xtour Server Trip optimisation The PTV xtour Server creates efficient trip plans for transportation logistics and sales forces. It considers customer time limits, depot opening hours, driving time, rest periods and vehicle capacities. PLAN TRIPS EFFICIENTLY With the PTV xtour Server, new trip plans can be created or existing trip plans can be optimised. PTV xtour Server efficiently assigns transport orders to vehicles in your fleet and adjusts the order sequence. SEQUENCE OPTIMISATION Calculation of ideal order sequence for the various stop-off points of a trip. Vehicle capacity, time restrictions, and legal guidelines on driving times and rest periods are all taken into account. PTV xtour Server solves the Travelling Salesman Problem, even in the context of other applications, independently of the trip planning. DYNAMIC TRAIN FORMATION Dynamic train formation distinguishes between tractors, trailers and trains, to enable optimum capacity distribution and thereby optimise vehicle deployment. MULTI-DEPOT PLANNING All the plans are normally depot-related. That means a vehicle starts its trip at a depot and ends at a depot - although not necessary the same one. Multi-depot planning is also possible with PTV xtour Server. This involves checking the available depots for suitable vehicles and then assigning consignments to the appropriate depot in each case. Direct distance, route or driving time can be selected as basis for planning. ROAD EDITOR SUPPORT You can use the RoadEditor to block or release roads and road segments, or block or release them for certain vehicle classes (lorries, for example). That way, you decide which roads are included in route calculations, and how to include them. HIGH-PERFORMANCE ROUTING This function is based on a pre-calculated routing network for a defined map and defined vehicle profiles. When calcuvlating the route, the algorithm accesses this pre-calculated routing network, which considerably speeds up the process compared to conventional processes. If another map or vehicle profile is accessed, the PTV xtour Server automatically switches to the known flexible routing.

15 PTV xtour server SUGGESTION FUNCTION A semi-automatic function, which provides alternative suggestions for trip planning. The suggestions are optimised and sorted according to cost considerations. Suggestions for the integration of new orders into existing trips. Suggestions of other orders for existing trips for the best possible capacity utilisation. Vehicle suggestions for existing trips. Trips suggestions for a particular vehicle. It is also helpful when a vehicle unexpectedly becomes available or returns from the repair shop. ANALYSIS OF UNSCHEDULED STOPS Feedback on why certain orders could not be included in current planning: no suitable vehicle available (e.g. no vehicle is capable of transporting the weight of the cargo) Suitable vehicle available but order no longer fits in a trip (e.g. because, with it, the maximum trip duration would be exceeded) TIME RESTRICTIONS PTV xtour Server takes the following time limits into account when planning trips: Depot opening hours Vehicle availability Customer opening hours Availability / latest arrival time at depot: goods are only available at the depot after a certain time or have to be delivered to the depot by a certain time. Fixed pick-up / delivery times Maximum time between pick-up and delivery VEHICLE PARAMETERS AND LIMITATIONS PTV xtour Server takes the following parameters into account when planning trips: Predefined vehicle profiles: Select from between truck, car, cyclist and pedestrian. Vehicle capacity: the unit for the cargo capacity can be freely selected (e.g. cubic metres, litres). Free vehicle parameters: up to 255 freely definable characteristics can be allocated to a vehicle (e.g. refrigeration available yes/no), which can be taken into account during planning. The transport order must, of course, be provided with the corresponding criteria (e.g. refrigeration available yes/no). Loading and unloading time: this parameter adds to a fixed component another variable component that rises as the amount of cargo increases. DRIVING TIMES AND REST PERIODS THROUGHOUT EUROPE PTV xtour Server takes into account all European regulations in terms of driving times and rest periods as well as German working time regulations for the commercial transportation of goods and people. 16 PTV xdima server PTV xdima Server Distance matrices The PTV xdima Server calculates the road distances and travelling times between many locations (so-called distance matrices or distance tables) and makes them available for use in other applications. CALCULATION OF DISTANCE MATRICES The PTV xdima Server receives geocoordinates from locations and calculates a distance matrix, which contains road distances and travelling times between all locations. Vehicle profiles and other routing parameters can be set in the calculation: Vehicle type (car or truck) Route/time preferences - you decide whether the fastest or the shortest route should be calculated and to what extent Preference for or avoidance of eight road classes is possible (e.g. toll roads, motorways, residential areas) Speed for eight road classes Truck attributes can be included in the calculation. Inclusion of low emission zones MANAGEMENT OF DISTANCE MATRICES The PTV xdima Server manages the calculated distance matrix and makes it available for other applications (for example trip planning or location planning systems). They are then provided with the precalculated routes and travelling times much quicker then if a new calculation had to be made for each request. Intelligent management mechanisms ensure increased performance. The PTV xdima Server can export distance matrices so that they can be directly used by other systems. In the same way, previously calculated distance matrices can be imported and managed. HIGH-PERFORMANCE ROUTING This function is based on a pre-calculated routing network for a defined map and defined vehicle profiles. When calculating the route, the algorithm accesses this pre-calculated routing network, which considerably speeds up the process compared to conventional processes. If another map or vehicle profile is accessed, the PTV xdima Server automatically switches to the known flexible routing.

18 PTV xcluster server PTV xcluster Server Clusters of destinations PTV xcluster Server handles a basic function of trip planning: grouping all the orders or customer calls into clusters. A cluster typically contains all the customer calls for one day trip. FUNCTIONS Trip planning often begins by grouping all the orders or customer calls into clusters, especially for recurring orders or calls. This approach is particularly common when planning trips for sales forces. Take a two-week plan, for example. It consists of ten day trips (two weeks with five business days each). PTV xcluster Server will split up all the customer calls scheduled for these two weeks into ten clusters - one cluster per day trip. PTV xcluster Server takes into account call patterns within one week (e.g. Monday and Sunday) and call frequencies over weeks (e.g. 14 days). The clusters are set up so that each call is assigned to one, and only one, cluster. That means if customers are visited twice a week, they will be assigned to four different clusters in our example. Once the clusters are generated, the ideal sequence of stop-off points can be determined using PTV xtour Server s sequence optimisation. COMPACT, BALANCED CLUSTERS PTV xcluster Server creates clusters that fulfil two goals: Geographically compact clusters: orders or customer calls are grouped into the most geographically compact clusters possible, which produces shorter trips. That means that customers located near one another are assigned to the same cluster wherever possible. The calculation is based on road distances or travel times. Balanced clusters: the clusters should be balanced in terms of predetermined factors (e.g. number of calls, sales potential, call duration).
