Conducted longitudinal study of transdiagnostic risk factors in youth psychopathology. Senior Honors Thesis: An Undergraduate Dissemination of the Girls in Transition Program. University of Pennsylvania September May 2010 Supervisor: Jane Gillham, Ph.D. Designed and implemented a study measuring the effectiveness of a CBT intervention, Girls In Transition, developed by Dr. Jane Gillham to increase well-being and reduce symptoms of hopelessness, depression and anxiety in adolescent girls. Conducted extensive literature review, wrote project proposal, contacted and coordinated with schools, recruited participants, led school-based CBT sessions for groups of girls, collected and analyzed data. The Israel Center for the Treatment of Psycho-trauma, Intern Summer 2009 Jerusalem, Israel Supervisors: Neta Bargai, Ph.D. and Carl Hochhauser, Psy.D. Conducted literature reviews and wrote grant proposals for several studies on interventions for Israeli youth with trauma experiences, including a study on the impact of chemotherapy on neurocognitive function in pediatric patients, and a telephone-based psycho-educational intervention for parents during the transition from active oncological treatment to follow-up care. Anxiety Disorders Research Study, Research Assistant Fall 2008 Spring 2009 University of Pennsylvania Supervisor: Melissa Hunt, Ph.D. Designed and proposed a research study measuring the efficacy of a CBT workbook for reducing catastrophic cognitions about symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Created and validated a measure of catastrophic cognitions about symptoms to better measure improvements. Responsibilities included study design, IRB proposal, subject recruitment, collection and analysis of data, and presentation of research at professional meetings and conferences. Cognitive Therapy for Depression, Research Assistant Spring 2008 University of Pennsylvania Supervisors: Robert DeRubeis, Ph.D. and Kathleen Holmes, M.A. Worked on a study investigating the "micro-processes" in cognitive therapy by examining therapist and patient communication in the context of individual therapy sessions. 6 Teaching Assistant for Service-Based Research Experience Course January May 2010 University of Pennsylvania Supervisors: Acacia Parks-Sheiner, Ph.D. and Jane Gillham, Ph.D. Proposed, developed, and served as the Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate servicebased research experience course in which undergraduates were trained to deliver a CBT intervention, The Penn Resiliency Program, to youth at middle schools in West Philadelphia. Designed the structure of the course, identified school sites, and coordinated with school mental health workers and administration. Responsible for supervision of the intervention sites and for helping train undergraduates to deliver the intervention.
