OAE hearing screening at your fingertips OAE+
Periodic hearing screening leads to early detection of hearing loss 6-7 per 1000 children will be identified with permanent hearing loss in early childhood. 1 12% of children ages 6-19 have permanent noise induced hearing loss. 2 Hearing loss creates communication roadblocks. OAE SCREENING 65% of people with hearing loss are below retirement age. 3 Periodic hearing screening using MADSEN Alpha reduces the roadblocks.
Hearing loss is an invisible condition Hearing screening for children Performing surveillance and screening within the medical home is the best way to monitor young children for late onset hearing loss 4. Hearing testing for children while important, can be a challenge. The MADSEN Alpha OAE+ has an intuitive touch screen that puts children and users at ease. The video that appears during the test is simply engaging and enjoyable. The Alpha has made hearing testing for children FAST and FUN! Video helps reduce fidgeting and squirming! Hearing screening for adults The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association recommends that adults be screened for hearing impairment at least every decade through age 50 and at 3-year intervals thereafter 5. Patients often find themselves unaware of their own hearing loss and in a quiet exam room presbycusis can often be overlooked. The whisper test or other subjective tests can be unreliable or difficult to administer in some environments. OAEs with the Alpha are easily administered in almost any setting. Objective hearing screening in the medical home Objective information on hearing Patient convenience Additional revenue stream Reduce unneccesary referrals

Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) are sounds measurable in the ear canal of normal, healthy ears, and are produced by the outer hair cell activity in the cochlea. These sounds are small but can be measured with a tiny microphone. It is important to note that otoacoustic emissions do not actually test hearing. OAEs are clinically significant in that they provide information about the integrity of the cochlea and outer hair cell function. 5 Touch screen navigation With single touch operation, learning and screening is fast. Operators can choose from an entertaining video or traditional OAE screen. Alpha Full size. The report is seamlessly transferred through the docking station to PC.
MADSEN Alpha OAE is the starting point to better hearing health OAE as a choice for hearing screening provides doctors with objective information about cochlear function for all ages. Only those with abnormal OAE findings should be sent for more comprehensive audiological assessment. Assessing cochlear function is fast, easy and cost effective with MADSEN Alpha.
