4 Entrepreneurship Program ZELL Entrepreneurship Program Currently in its thirteenth year, the Zell Entrepreneurship Program has evolved into an acclaimed venture creation program, providing students with an opportunity to apply advanced entrepreneurial studies to the creation of real business ventures. Generously supported in vision and funding by Sam Zell of Chicago, the program is designed for outstanding undergraduates in their final year of the business, law, communications, computer science, government, psychology or economics programs at IDC Herzliya who aspire to work in an entrepreneurial organization or start their own business. This innovative program provides a platform for the development of a business venture from concept to launch by combining customized learning and invaluable practical experience over the course of an academic year. The program is taught in English in order to best acclimate students to the global business environment. The intimate seminar setting gives students a unique opportunity to receive professional and personal guidance from accomplished instructors, mentors and the business community. Moreover, the ecosystem of support encompassing the program, including its active alumni network, offers program participants a gateway to making their entrepreneurial dreams a reality.
5 Sam Zell Sam zell Sam Zell is the Chairman of Equity Group Investments LLC, the private, Chicago based investment firm he founded more than 40 years ago. His investments span industries and continents, and include interests in finance, energy, transportation, communications and real estate. Mr. Zell began his career in real estate as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan by managing apartment buildings throughout Southeast Michigan. Today, he is recognized as a founding father of the public real estate industry after creating three of the largest real estate investment trusts (REITs) in history. He is also the Chairman of Equity International, a privatelyheld, leading investor in real estate-related business outside of the Unites States. Furthermore, Mr. Zell chairs five public companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Previously, Mr. Zell served as Chairman of Equity Office Properties Trust (EOP), which was sold in February 2007 to The Blackstone Group for $39 billion in the largest private equity transaction in history at the time. For many years, Mr. Zell served as the Chairman of the American Friends of IDC Herzliya. He established the Zell Entrepreneurship Program in 2001 together with IDC Herzliya President Prof. Uriel Reichman. 6 IDC Herzliya IDC Herzliya Modeled after distinguished colleges in the United States, IDC Herzliya was founded in 1994 by the renowned Israeli professor Uriel Reichman. He and a small group of founders sought to create an Israeli university where personal achievement would go hand in hand with social responsibility. 8 Program Leadership and Advisory Board Program Leadership The Zell Entrepreneurship Program is run by Liat Aaronson, who as the Executive Director of the program for the last eight years, has guided the development of the program from a venture consulting and business plan formulation emphasis to hands-on venture creation. The Academic Director of the program is Prof. Yair Tauman, who is a renowned Professor of Game Theory and the Founding Dean of the new Adelson School of Entrepreneurship. He also serves as a Director at the Center for Game Theory in Economics at the State University in Stony Brook, NY. Liraz Sharabani, a graduate of the Zell 7 class, serves as the Project Manager and liaison with program partners and external resources, including the Zell Alumni Network. The Program Coordinator is Dana Barda, a Bar Ilan University social studies graduate. Dana facilitates student - faculty administration and coordinates on campus activities. The program is guided by an active advisory board comprised of entrepreneurs and investors who help the program management develop the program structure and curriculum, meet with the student teams to guide them in their ventures, and instill entrepreneurial values through lectures and meetings with the students.

Liat Aaronson Dr. Eyal Maoz Mr. Eden Shochat Students work in teams with the guidance of business advisors and faculty to develop a venture from the inception of an idea to the launch of a viable business. Relying on the Lean Startup Methodology and in particular the Lean Canvas, students are urged to Get out of the building and undertake customer discovery and validation. This course is designed to present a comprehensive framework for analysis, strategy formulation and tactical marketing decisionmaking for new ventures and products based on a value approach, whereby the creation of value for customers, strategic partners and for the company itself is considered to be the ultimate goal of the marketing process. The second part of the course guides students through qualitative and quantitative concept testing and the formulation of a feasibility study. The revolution brought about by the internet has led to the creation of new business and marketing models with immense opportunities. This course deals with various issues, including: market sizing, goto-market strategies and business model innovation in the context of new media ventures. 9
10 Program Composition and Course Descriptions Program Composition and Course Descriptions Summer Program: After a challenging four-month application process starting with a grilling online application including open questions, a CV upload, a venture proposal submission and two letters of recommendation, followed by a faculty interview, four alumni interviews and an interview with two members of the advisory board a select group of candidates is invited to take part in Zell s Summer Induction Program, or SIP. SIP is a 10-day intensive summer program that combines lectures, workshops, offsites and activities with alumni of the program. It is a chance for the program to get to know candidates better, for the candidates to get to know the program better and for the candidates to get to know each other better in order to facilitate effective team formation once the program begins. After SIP and the final stage of acceptance, the program effectively kicks off in the summer months with team formation and intensive ideation. Core Courses: Venture Creation, or the process of creating an innovative new business venture, is the crux of the Zell Program. The intensive field study course is complemented by courses and workshops specially designed to assist in developing a new startup venture and instilling an entrepreneurial mindset.

Mr. Eyal Gura )Graduate of Zell 2( This workshop exposes students to the entrepreneurial ecosystem through guest lectures by entrepreneurs and professionals from the business community as well as case studies. The workshop includes a 10-day study trip to the U.S., during the trip, students learn from the experience of world-renowned entrepreneurs, visit leading companies and participate in a specially-designed workshop at the University of Chicago s Booth School of Business. This workshop requires students to interact with a virtual board of directors that not only acts as an advisory board to the ventures, but also instills the experience of working with a board of directors, including preparation, reporting and follow-up procedures on board decisions. 11

Strategic thinking is a Game Theory-based course where students learn how to analyze decision-making in situations where several decisionmakers interact and influence each other. This course focuses on methods of financing new ventures and addresses dilemmas such as: funding sources, motivating employees in uncertain conditions, investment contracts between venture capital funds and entrepreneurs and more.
13 Hosting MEET (Middle East Education Through Technology) NUS-Zell Interchange Summer Zell Gives Back Project As part of the Zell Program s collaboration with MEET, a program in cooperation with MIT, in which Zell alumni teach venture creation to the Palestinian and Israeli high school students who are chosen each year to participate in MEET, current Zell students also host the high schoolers on campus and mentor them on their projects. For the past three years, students from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore s leading university, have joined the Zell Program for a semester while they are in Israel on an internship program at local startups. NUS students take part in a specialized venture creation module, joining the Zellots and sharing in their learning and experiences as both groups develop their ventures. The interchange has yielded a wealth of cooperation and may even yield a joint venture one day. Each summer, the Zell candidates, known as Sippers, work on a venture creation project for the good of the community. Over the last few years, Sippers have completed projects for Variety Israel, the Bialik Rogozin School and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This past year, students worked to come up with ventures to improve the lives of people with Juvenile Diabetes and presented their ideas to the board of the organization s Israeli branch. 13
14 Program Composition and Course Descriptions On and Off-Site Program Activities: Google Campus and Launchpad Tech Aviv DLD TLV Each year, Zell students take part in Google Launchpad, a Google Israel initiative that serves as a bootcamp for early-stage startups. Zell teams spend two weeks inside of Google Campus ideating, working on their ventures and receiving feedback and mentorship from Googlers and industry experts on a range of subjects including user interface, product strategy and technology, marketing, business development and benchmarking tools. Each month Zell students participate in Tech Aviv, a global Israeli startup founders club by invitation only with over 3,000 members worldwide. Events are held monthly at the IDC Herzliya in order to showcase technology, hold discussions and help fellow Israeli startups. At each gathering, startups demo their products in front of hundreds of investors and Israeli executives from leading tech companies in the U.S., including Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo and ebay, in order to get critical feedback and advice. In a growing tradition, Zell students take part in and help out at the Digital Life Design (DLD) Conference held in Tel Aviv as part of the DLD TLV Festival. Zell students join panel discussions and lectures, and help organizers both host the event and chaperone the many foreign delegations that come to town for the event.
15 Dr. Yoram Friedman is an Adjunct Lecturer at IDC Herzliya. He co-founded Yeda Computers Ltd. to introduce and distribute Apple computers in Israel, serving as the company s CEO for 10 years and bringing the company to an IPO in Mr. Eyal Gura joined Pitango in late 2012 to help existing portfolio companies source and manage new earlystage deals in Web, Mobile and e-commerce startups. Eyal, a graduate of the Zell 2 class, is a serial entrepreneur with three exits under his belt, two of which created new R&D offices of global companies in Israel. Mr. Amir Guttman is the Founder and Managing Partner of Aviv Venture Capital, and currently serves on the board of directors of Bitband, MCS Medical Compression Systems, FriSCo Friction Control Solutions and more. Dr. Amir Kfir has worked as an international corporate transformation therapist for the last 20 years, during which for many years he worked with the Adizes Group until founding his own company, Amirror. Dr. Jacob (Y aakov) Greenshpan is an independent consultant and one of Israel s leaders in user experience. 15
16 Faculty ZELL Faculty The courses in the Zell Entrepreneurship Program are taught by faculty with extensive experience in diverse fields.(in alphabetical order) Adv. Liat Aaronson Adv. Liat Aaronson is the Executive Director of the Zell Program and leads the curriculum development for MEET (Middle East Education through Technology). She teaches venture creation to the visiting National University of Singapore (NUS) students at IDC, in addition to students at the Technische Universitat Darmstadt, where she is purusing a PhD in the field of Entrepreneurship. Liat was one of the organizers of TEDxTel Aviv, the first TEDx event in Israel, and TEDxHolyland, and also supervised the student initiated TEDxIDC this Fall. Dr. Joseph (Yossi) Bachar is the Chairman of the Board of Israel Discount Bank since January 2010, after a distinguished career in consulting and in particular his role as Managing Director of Israel s Minsitry of Finance, where he is remembered to have initiated the Bachar Reform of the capital markets. Dr. Alex Coman is a technology value creation expert and a veteran of the hi-tech industry. He has worked, taught, consulted and served on the board of companies including IBM Research, AT&T, Motorola, Intel, Teva, etc., and is a regular expert on hi-tech issues on TV programs such as Layla Calcaly (Economic Night), London and Kirshenbaum, Channel 10 s Central News Edition and more. Currently, he has been commissioned by Springler to write a book on strategic technology management. Mr. Yoni Cheifetz is based in Lightspeed s Israel office and leads the firm s investment activity in Israel with areas of interest that include internet, digital media, mobile, communications, software, semiconductors and cleantech. Mr. Mike Emery is entering his twelfth year as a faculty member of the Zell Program, and enjoys an international reputation as a business and brand strategist, and CEO of Israel s newest strategic consultancy, Brand Economix, with partners in New York and London.
17 Mr. Eden Shochat is a partner at Aleph, a new $140 million early-stage venture capital fund. Mr. Shochat previously served as a General Partner at Genesis where he focused on seed-stage investments and prior to that, he was a Co-Founder of face.com, which was recently acquired by Facebook. Ms. Abigail Tenembaum and Mr. Michael Weitz work with individuals and groups worldwide to help foster and grow their communications and leadership capabilities. They are also the official Trainers for Speakers and Senior Curators for the world renowned TED Conferences. Abigail has an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and worked as a strategy consultant for Bain and Company. Michael spent 10 years in the theatre business as a director and producer of national tours - on, off, and way way off Broadway. Ms. Lorraine Tuffias is the Vice Chairman of Holmes Place Israel, and also manages the largest chain of day spas in Israel comprising eight branches. For the past 20 years, she has been a pioneer and innovator, changing the face of the health and fitness industry in Israel. 17
18 Faculty Dr. Ayal Shenhav, Adv. is the Founder and Senior Partner at Shenhav & Co. Law Offices, a leading Tel Aviv law firm that deals with hi-tech, private equity, taxation and project finance. Adv. Michael Tsur is the Founder and Director of the first Center for Mediation and Conflict Resolution in Israel, and currently teaches mediation and conflict resolution in various faculties in Israel and abroad. Prof. Yair Tauman is a leading Professor of Economics at State University of New York, Stony Brook, a Director of the Center for Game Theory in Economics at Stony Brook, the Founding Dean of the Adelson School of Entrepreneurship at the IDC and the Academic Director of the Zell Program since Ms. Galya Racine is a businesswoman and management consultant with international experience and a unique approach to problem-solving. She is currently the Founder of Innovation Wise, a boutique innovation consulting firm servicing numerous Israeli corporations in the field of innovation. Dr. Eyal Maoz is the Director of the MBA programs at the School of Business at Ono Academic College and a visiting Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Since 2007, Aviram has founded several startups, including his most recent one, CareerSonar, which is an NYC-based startup that empowers jobseekers to discover the best career opportunities hidden in their network. Fourth-year student in the Joint Degree Program in Law and Business Administration at the Radzyner School of Law and the Arison School of Business. In the IDF, he served for 11 years as an Officer and Commander in a Special Forces unit, ranked Major. Liran currently works as a Consultant in a marketing and business strategy consulting company. Third-year student at the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science (with a merit scholarship and the President's Honor Certificate). In the IDF, he served in the elite intelligence unit 8200 as a Software Engineer and an R&D Team Leader, ranked Captain, and took part in a project that won the Israel Defense Prize. 20 Student Bios ZELL Student Bios Gal Aharon Gal Avital Tom Bar-Av Third-year student at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications (with a merit scholarship). During her military service, she served as a Squadron Operations Officer in the Israeli Air Force and was part of the founding team of the new F16i Squadron. Fourth-year student in the Joint Degree Program in Law and Business Administration at the Radzyner School of Law and the Arison School of Business. In the IDF, she served in the Israeli Air Force in the Aviation Academy as a Human Resources Manager. Currently, Gal works as a Business Development Manager at GRT Solutions. Third-year student at the Lauder School of Government. Following his release from the IDF as an Intelligence Officer in an elite intelligence unit, he studied jazz and modern music composition at the Rimon School of Music. Currently, Tom works as a Communication Skills Trainer at Debate Ltd.
21 Amit Edri Reuven Eliyahu Maayan Gabe Third-year student at the Arison School of Business. In the IDF, he served for 6 years as an Officer and Commander in a Special Forces unit, ranked Captain. After the army, Amit co-founded the website "Irur plus", an academic services site for students Third-year student at the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science (with a merit scholarship). In the IDF, he served in the Golani Brigade for four years as a Combat Soldier and an Officer Commander, ranked Lieutenant. He currently works as an Integration Manager and Software Developer in the R&D department of the X-ray Medical Industry Division. Completed her third year at the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science. In the IDF, she served as an Intelligence Analyst in a classified Intelligence unit, and as a part of her work, she managed the Operations Division office and was responsible for the unit's information security. Maayan is currently working as a Unit Tester at "NICE Systems", a company that specializes in data security, surveillance and telephone voice recording. 21
22 Student Bios Ori Ben-Zvi Shannon Delany Ariadne Dirks Third-year student at the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science (with an Efi Arazi Scholarship and a Microsoft Excellency Scholarship). In the IDF, he served in the casualties operations room, and won a special excellency award for developing a software package for his unit. Ori represented IDC in a student exchange program at the University of Pennsylvania. Completed her third-year at the Raphael Recanati International School in the Business Program, specializing in Marketing. She made Aliyah from San Francisco, California by herself at the age of 21 and holds an Associate of Arts degree in Merchandise Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Shannon currently serves as the Social Media Manager for an online reputation management company. Third-year student at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications, specializing in Interactive Communications (with a Heseg Scholarship). She made Aliyah from Amsterdam, Holland by herself at the age of 19. In the IDF, Ariadne served as an HR Officer in the Navy. In the IDF, he served in the elite Intelligence Research Department as an Intelligence Analyst. Today, Barak works for Microsoft as a Software Developer Engineer Intern in the BI field. Third-year student at the Raphael Recanati International School in the Business Program. She made aliyah from the U.S at the age of 15. In the IDF, Gili served as a Missions Room Operator in an F-16 squadron in the Israeli Air Force, receiving the squadron s excellence award. She previously served as the Marketing and PR Coordinator for the RRIS in the Student Union, and as an Assistant Product Manager at Antonym Cosmetics Israel. Fourth-year student in the joint degree program in law and business administration at the Radzyner School of Law and the Arison School of Business, majoring in Accounting (a merit scholarship). In the IDF, Netanel served as a combat soldier and an officer in Sayeret Golani and was responsible for the unit's counterinsurgency team, ranked Lieutenant. Alongside his studies, he currently works as an Analyst at Vintage Investment Partners, a venture capital fund 23
24 Student Bios Ami Goldenberg Yarden Gross Alon Hendelman Third-year student at the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science. In the IDF, Ami served in the elite intelligence unit 8200 as a software engineer and later on as an IT security consultant. During his service, he founded and developed two startups which have become an official part of the unit. Ami is currently working as an Android Developer at Moblin, in which he develops Android apps for top Israeli brands. In his spare time, Ami assists startups in building and designing their products. Completed his third year at the School of Economics, minoring in Business Administration. In the IDF, he served as a Combat Diver in a classified unit. He currently serves as his Class Representative, and recently hosted the Real Estate Convention by Gazit-Globe Institute. Third-year student at the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science. In the IDF, he served as a Combat Team Officer in Sayeret Givati, the reconnaissance company of Givati, ranked Lieutenant. Alon currently works as a Software Developer for ARRIS, a company specializing in telecommunications equipment.

Throughout his seven-year IDF service, Aviel began as a Combat Soldier, and excelled to the role of Company Commander. He represented IDC in a student exchange program at Washington University, in St. Louis. In the IDF, Or served as Head of Office for the Assistant of the Chief of General Staff. Or is currently a Web Developer at Preen.Me, which assists in the purchase of beauty products through peer reccomendations. Completed his thirdyear at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications, majoring in Visual Content and minoring in Business Administration. In the IDF, he served as an HR Planner, first in AKA and later in an elite intelligence unit. After the army, Yoav specialized in marketing for the lifestyle industry, and worked in Shalmor Communication as a PR Manager for some of the leading brands in Israel. Completed her third year as a Business Administration student at the Arison School of Business, majoring in Finance. She took part in the "Bridging the Cultural Divide through Entrepreneurship" Program for Israelis and Palestinians at Babson College, MA, U.S. Parallel to her studies at the IDC, she studies Interior Design at Studio 6B, and also serves as Head of Sales & Marketing at Timocco, a startup company that develops computer games for children with special needs.

29 Zell Alumni Network on Facebook Students gain admission to the Zell Alumni Network on Facebook upon graduation from the program. With a membership of over 200 active Zell alumni with experience and positions across various different business and technology sectors, the Zell Alumni Network is a place for alumni and faculty of the program to connect, share ideas, personal stories and feedback, and circulate job and business opportunities. Winter Event Summer Graduation Zellebration Every winter, the Zellots get together for a reception event. The event is held at different venues such as the Heseg House on Rothschild or Google Campus TLV, with keynote addresses from leading industry figures such as Sam Zell, Shlomo Dovrat, Sir Ronald Cohen and Yanki Margalit. Right around graduation, a zellebration ensues to mark the end of another Zell year and the graduation of the preceding class. Usually set in a local bar, the dynamic is informal and fun. This year the event was held at the Shenkin, a Ra anana bar owned by one of the members of the Zell 12 class. 29
