2 ASHOKA WORKING WITH THE WORLD S LEADING SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS Ashoka is the global professional association of the world s leading social entrepreneurs individuals with new ideas for systemically addressing the world s biggest challenges and with the entrepreneurial skills to transform those ideas into actions with national, regional and global social impact. For over thirty years we have identified, supported and networked 3,000 social entrepreneurs Ashoka Fellows in over 80 countries, solving systemic problems in education, healthcare, civic participation, economic development, environmental protection and other key areas. BUILDING COMMUNITIES AND SUPPORTIVE ECOSYSTEMS FOR CHANGEMAKERS Ashoka creates the necessary support systems for changemakers to deliver sustainable social solutions, such as access to social financing, bridges to business and academic sectors, as well as frameworks for partnerships that deliver social and financial value. This vast experience enables Ashoka to spearhead unprecedented pathways of scaling social innovations through the power of collaboration with public institutions, the finance industry, the business sector and other key actors. ENABLING NEW FORMS OF PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN BUSINESS AND CIVIL SOCIETY For-profit organizations today have an opportunity to collaborate with citizen sector organizations (CSOs) on large-scale social and environmental problems that neither group has been able to solve on its own. The power of such partnerships lies in the complementary strengths of the participants. Businesses offer scale, expertise in manufacturing and operations, sales and financing, while social entrepreneurs and CSOs contribute with strong social networks, deep insights into the needs of their customers and communities, and social innovation power. These cross-sectorial partnerships not only change the rules of conventional business logic (as they strive for both social and economic value), but also result in important transformations within the organizations involved. Partners begin to capitalize on each other s complementary assets and experiences, and as they begin to cross-pollinate, new leadership styles and organizational structures evolve. These partnerships become a powerful force for internal cultural change for all the entities involved. The future lies in collaboration.

3 BECOMING A PARTICIPANT Becoming a participant means being part of a program in which you will attend 7 modules of 2-3 days over a nine-months period. In these modules you will learn about: THE MARKET Spotting opportunities in the emerging market of social entrepreneurial initiatives for new system-changing ideas and social innovations. THE TOOLS Applying the impact model and the impact-oriented business plan; planning impact-based; measuring the impact of social entrepreneurial initiatives. THE KNOW-HOW Financing and scaling social innovation as well as building partnerships between the social, public and business sectors, while understanding to mobilize the ecosystem of support. THE MANAGEMENT Assessing social entrepreneurial initiatives along the life-cycle, co-creating hybrid value systems, enabling matchmaking, advocacy and managing stakeholders. THE PEOPLE Discussing, learning and sharing with key stakeholders from across the full spectrum of the global social entrepreneurship movement. CURRICULUM Participants get equipped with the skills to master entrepreneurial success and social impact at the same time. Applying an impact model and impactoriented business plan for strategy & organizational development. Developing ways to scale and maximize social impact; understanding financing approaches to increase readiness and to attract funding and financing. Understanding and leveraging the power of private companies, public institutions and traditional welfare organizations. Mobilizing stakeholders, facilitating impact-oriented collaboration and decision making, and enabling system-change. Managing organizations; scouting for, attracting, recruiting, managing and rewarding the best talents. Designing, crafting and communicating success stories, leveraging the power of mass media, and utilizing social media channels. OPTION A: PLACEMENT AS AN EXECUTIVE IN RESIDENCE FOR AN ASSIGNMENT WITH ONE OF OUR SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS OPTION B: DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN OF YOUR SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURIAL INITIATIVE THROUGH THE PROGRAM YOU WILL Work as an Executive in Residence for a social entrepreneur on a challenging assignment. You will develop strategic products (e.g., impact, business and scaling plans), identify development needs, and mobilize corresponding resources, while at the same time spotting opportunities and strengthening networks around the social entrepreneur s mission. Receive an excellent education from a world-class faculty and leading changemakers from the not-for-profit, business, and public sectors. Take part in fireside chats, learning about the journeys of successful social entrepreneurs. Learn from corporate leaders, as well as public institutions and large civil society organizations about how they pioneer social innovation in their organizations. Be part of a team consisting of Peers, Mentors, Ashoka Staff and pro-bono Partners that support you to develop your social entrepreneurial ideas. Become part of Ashoka s global networks of social entrepreneurs and changemakers. After completing the program you will be invited to join Ashoka events across Europe. As leaders of change and pioneers of new professional pathways, Ashoka will actively profile and connect you.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY The program creates inspiring and transforming learning experiences. This means that participants will be exposed to group work, case studies, peer-reviews, coaching and mentoring, and will be actively engaged in assignments with leading social entrepreneurs.

One in four new enterprises setup every year in the European Union is a social enterprise The European Commission actively contributes to creating a favorable environment for the development of social business in Europe and the social economy at large.
