3 Introduction As Citrus College approaches its fall 2015 accreditation review, one critical measurement of the state of the college is feedback from all employees. The common vehicle used is to conduct a survey of all employees of the college. In the spring of 2014, Citrus College s Office of Institutional Research conducted a college wide survey of all Citrus College employees. This report is the result of this survey. Methodology From April to June of 2014, the Office of Institutional Research at Citrus College conducted an all employee survey. The survey instrument mirrored the 2007 Citrus College All Employee Survey. In addition, research into what other California community colleges asked and did for their employee survey was conducted and incorporated into the design of this survey in terms of questions asked and method of research. Appendix A is the survey questionnaire. Questions were Likert based, categorized in eight areas and analysis of the results followed these eight areas: I. Institutional Commitment II. Dialogue III. Evaluation, Planning and Improvement IV. Institutional Integrity V. Organization VI. Student Learning Outcomes VII. Comments regarding things liked most and things respondents would like to see changed at the college VIII. Respondent characteristics and demographics The survey was performed primarily over the Internet using the SurveyMonkey service. The Department of Technology and Computer Services (TeCS) helped with identifying employee addresses. Employees of the college were contacted by college and encouraged to participate by clicking on a link to SurverMonkey. Employees with no direct access to college s were sent an exact paper version of the survey. A total of 265 employees of Citrus College responded to the survey. 240 completed the survey online in SurveyMonkey and another 25 completed a paper copy. The paper versions of the survey were input into a second SurveyMonkey data file. A main data file was created combining the online responses with the paper responses. The analysis consisted primarily of tabulation and percentage calculations for each question and basic qualitative key words analysis on the comments. Additional analysis was conducted on the qualitative based questions (comments) after the data were cleaned. Microsoft Excel and a free online service called TagCloud ( were used in the analysis. This report was created in Microsoft Word with tabled percentages of responses to questions and supportive appendices consisting of actual data counts. Response Rate According to data provided by TeCS, the survey instrument was sent to a total of 617 employees, with 265 employees responding. This amounts to a 43% response rate or just under half of employees responding. 2 P age
