4 1 MASTER PATIENT INDEX The MASTER PATIENT INDEX provides both administrative staff and clinicians with a single demographic view as well as links that display a summary of the patient s entire record. Master Patient Index key features: Single MPI across all Modules Multiple Patient Identifiers, for example NHS and Departmental Numbers Flexible Search Options Potential Duplicate Patient s Report Merge and Unmerge functionality Summary of Patient Activity 1 MPI benefits: i) Reduction in double entry of patient demographic details Flexible search criteria reduces duplicate registrations i Automatic search on Alias, Previous Names, Soundex and Wild Card reduces duplicate registrations iv) Flexible security allows mandatory fields to be set and provides improved data quality v) Validation on specific fields provides improved data quality
5 2 REFERRAL MANAGEMENT AND RTT The REFERRAL MANAGEMENT AND RTT module supports electronic and paper referrals. The system allows Trusts to be able to monitor the referral information and waiting time targets. Referral management and RTT key features: Supports Referral to Treat Pathways as specified by HSCIC Choose and Book compliant Interprovider transfers Outgoing transfers Various types of referral for NHS patients, non-nhs patients, RTT and non RTT Meets statutory requirements 2 Referral Management and RTT benefits: i) Monitoring of local target and breach times reduces the amount of patient breaches Electronic clinicians worklist, including referral acceptance, rejection and booking notes Manages multiple invitation processes including partial bookings Summary details of RTT waiting times both elapsed and adjusted are displayed throughout the patient journey i iv) View of active referrals on entry of a new referral reduces the amount of duplicate referrals The ability to record interprovider transfer information and monitor it against the previous provider details ensures that breaches are reduced Staff time is saved due to the automatic electronic tracking of a referral once a query has been raised Clear display of all activities linked to a referral/pathway Locally configurable patient letters, documents and information guides v) Locally defined patient type breach targets allow Trusts to monitor and reduce breaches against specific types of patient
6 3 OUTPATIENT SCHEDULING AND MANAGEMENT Allscripts PAS includes a flexible appointment scheduler that allows for scheduling of outpatient appointments, theatre lists, ward attender, community staff diaries and other outpatient settings, including non face-to-face activity. Our PAS provides the use of self check-in kiosks and outpatient management. 7 4 WAITING LIST MANAGEMENT The effective management of waiting lists is essential for any healthcare organisation as it can contribute to patients receiving earlier treatment than might otherwise be the case. WAITING LIST MANAGEMENT also ensures that the hospital is making the most effective use of its resources. 8 5 INPATIENT AND BED MANAGEMENT INPATIENT AND BED MANAGEMENT provides the user with a set of views and functions to assist in the management of admitted patients. It is a fully integrated module and is designed to improve patient workflow across single or multiple hospital environments. The application is designed to provide real-time patient information to clinicians, ward staff and bed managers. 9 6 CLINICAL CODING Allscripts PAS provides CLINICAL CODING at the point of entry for outpatients and community appointments. The inpatient and Daycase encounters are coded using an integration interface 6 Clinical Coding benefits: i) Provision of a validation process to improve the accuracy of coding Enables timely and accurate coding meeting local targets to Medicode Coding Software. Clinical coding key features: Outpatient and Community appointments Real-time coding by clinicians Code List relevant to clinics Code description defined by Trust and mapped to ICD10 and OPSC4 coding i Accurate and timely invoicing is achieved through appropriate coding iv) Summary of the patient s diagnosis and procedures in a single view saves staff time Ability to create local coding Search option automatic by partial entry of data Inpatient and Daycase coding Fully integrated with a Third Party Coding System, for example Medicode or Simple Code, allowing the use of all Third Party Functionality Relevant data items passed to the Third Party Coding System without having to search for the patient Coding and assigned HRG passed to Oasis and held against the patient s finished consultant episode Reporting of uncoded records Real-time information Bi-directional

11 8 REPORTING Allscripts PAS provides management reports directly from the PAS Database without impacting on the system performance of end users. The Oracle Discovery reporting tool allows Trusts to define virtually real-time ad hoc reports from a reporting database.
