7 7 Major smart city project in Japan 4 areas were selected as the smart city of first pilot demonstration area on 2010 in Japan. Each system has developed by 2012 and has been demonstrating until Kitakyushu city project Scale: 200 residential and 70 companies Feature: - DR by dynamic pricing (real) - Total energy management in the limited area Toyota city project Scale: 70 residential with PV, FC, Batt., PHV Feature: - DR by dynamic pricing (virtual) - Traffic demand side management (V2H,V2G) Yokohama city project Scale: 4,000 residential, buildings(200acres), 2,000 EV Feature: - DR by dynamic pricing (virtual) - Virtual battery control Keihana area project Scale: 900 residential Feature: - DR by dynamic pricing (virtual) - Visualization and consulting of energy usage

8 Yokohama Smart City Project(YSCP) The world's largest scale Smart City construction in Yokohama (One of the Next Generation Energy and Social Systems Demonstrations by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) n n n One of four next-generation energy and social system demonstrations by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Four regions:yokohama, Toyota, Keihanna, Kitakyushu) Selected April, Features Large-scale estabulised city (3.7M people) Citizens and Yokohama base company cooperation. Aim Cooperation of various demand side energy management systems and community energy management system (CEMS). The efficient use of energy by demand response from the CEMS. Provide new value to customers by utilizing a network of CEMS. CEMS:Community Energy Management System DR:Demand Response--- Varying the power consumption pattern to suppress customer power usage by seting the electricity price and/or incentives, in case system become unreliable and/or power prices bcome high.

9 Outline of this project Demand Supply Balancing Battery Storage (Toshiba, Hitachi, Meidensha, NEC) Storage SCADA (Toshiba) Storage SCADA Smart Condominium* (JX Nippon Oil & Energy, Mitsui Fudosan Residential,Toshiba) HEMS (Panasonic) HEMS (Mitsui Fudosan Residential, Toshiba) HEMS Started operation from visualization service Smart Condominium* (MEMS) (DAIKYO ASTAGE ) Apartment HEMS (Tokyo Gas, NTT-F, NTT Docomo) Construct Community Energy Management aiming to cut CO2 emission by 25% 1!
