2 VISION CSR Europe s vision is that by 2030 the European urban population will be living in sustainable cities that will provide them with economic opportunities, reliable infrastructure and high standard of living. In each city relevant city actors work together in the development and implementation of long-term sustainability strategies.

3 The campaign goal is to create and implement a framework to bring business representatives closer to the urban stakeholders in developing new or advancing existing local sustainability strategies. GOAL

4 OBJECTIVES The campaign objectives are to: define a new model of urban multi-stakeholder partnership by analyzing the opportunities and challenges of existing urban partnerships; mainstream the approach by implementing the new model in 10 cities in 10 European countries.

Playing an active role in developing and fine-tuning a local sustainability strategy by becoming strategic partners and advisors to city authorities. 2. Providing cities with innovative products and services and better suited solutions to the identified sustainability challenges. 3. Ensuring positive impact by improving their own business performance and reducing the footprint of their operations. 4. Demonstrating their genuine commitment to sustainability. 5. Collaborating with other urban stakeholder to share their expertise and unlock the market for new products and solutions.

Draw important knowledge and expertise from businesses to use in advancing and fine-tuning urban sustainability strategies 2. Improved access to finance to support sustainability ambitions and overcome current and future sustainability challenges 3. Take advantage of innovative products, services and solutions tailored to city and citizens needs 4. By working together with business, cities can enhance their capacity for changing citizens behaviour and can encourage the adoption of more sustainable lifestyles 5. Integrate city planning and economic strategies through improved coordination between various departments

9 ACTIVITIES 1. KNOWLEDGE SHARING Showcase via an online platform (IMPACT MAP) examples, success factors and challenges of business-city collaboration and initiatives on a number of urban sustainability topic. Development of a Guide on effective businesscity partnership. 2. NPO ROADSHOW Organize 1-day regional workshops with city actors to present and discuss local sustainability strategies, as well as train the participants on how to set-up effective partnerships. Recruit 10 NPOs, 10 cities and companies who are willing to enter into collaboration. Set up 10 pilot business-city alliances. 3. EU POLICY DIALOGUE Organize EU policy seminars and dialogues with relevant EU DG. Invite leaders, strategic partners and corporate members.

NPO ROADSHOW Organize 1-day regional workshops with city actors to present and discuss local sustainability strategies, as well as train the participants on how to set-up effective partnerships. Recruit 10 NPOs, 10 cities and companies who are willing to enter into collaboration. Organize workshops in 10 cities led by the 10 NPOs where the urban stakeholders will be able to identify main city issues on which they can work together, define solutions and create an action plan.

11 ACTIVITIES (Con t) 3. EU POLICY Provide a clear understanding to CSR Europe s corporate members on EU s position and support on advancing sustainable living in cities in a variety of areas. Organize EU policy seminars and dialogues with relevant EU DG. Invite leaders, strategic partners and corporate members. Identify funds/tenders on sustainable living in cities in which business and cities can participate. Connect business with the cities and other urban stakeholders to facilitate application of EU funds.

13 ROLES FOR CITY/LOCAL AUTHORITIES IN CSR EUROPE SLIC CAMPAIGN Share your interest to be involved in the pilot phase of CSR Europe s campaign. Share with CSR Europe existing examples of collaborating with business, including lessons learned, success stories and key challenges Identify sustainability challenges where business s contribution is needed (in an early phase) Meet and discuss with business your urban sustainability challenges and identify solutions to advance your urban sustainability strategy Create an enabling environment for preprocurement alliances with business. Remove, if needed, legal barriers for business to engage that are against public interest. Set-up pre-procurement alliances with business to advance the local sustainability agenda.
