1 1 Pre-Masters Programme Welcome I would like to take this opportunity and welcome you to the Istituto Marangoni International Study Centre (IM ISC) and to Istituto Marangoni, London. You have certainly made an excellent choice. You are located not just in central London, but at the heart of the East end, Spitalfields. This is an area known for its ultra-cool street style, fashion shops and galleries. As well as being edgy and contemporary and all things creative, the area also has a really strong tradition of fashion and textiles going back over three hundred years. Indeed you will be studying literally on Fashion Street! The Pre-Masters Programme (Fashion) will be delivered through the ABE Level 6 Diploma in Marketing Management. This method of delivery allows IM ISC to administer a recognised and validated level 6 postgraduate qualification - that is accredited by professional business qualifications and is appropriate to industry standards. The qualification has sufficient flexibility to be delivered utilising fashion as its core frame of reference. The programme accommodates the Master s pathways: MA Fashion and Luxury Brand Management 316B, MA Contemporary Fashion Buying* & MA Fashion Promotion, Communication and Media*. MA Fashion Design Womenswear may not be as explicit within the ABE structure as a discreet discipline; as a result Fashion Design Womenswear has been given particular consideration and emphasis throughout each of the units. The core skills of the craft of design and craft of making are embedded within each of the first four units, culminating in Unit 05 which allows students to demonstrate project management skills in regard to the concept through to realisation of a finished garment. There is a short pre-course assignment that we would like you to complete and bring with you on October 6 th. Please present on A4 paper between words. Whichever MA pathway you are progressing to we hope you will work hard along and also have an enjoyable experience. We look forward to meeting you on October 6 th.
