The Grade A listed building was built in the nineteenth Century and today its impressive design is complemented by advanced audio-visual technology coupled with outstanding hospitality facilities. From intimate meetings to exclusive use of the entire building, Crumlin Road Gaol is the ideal setting for conferences, seminars, product launches, drinks receptions, gala dinners, exhibitions and more. 4 3 3 Heritage & History Crumlin Road Gaol dates back to 1845 and closed its doors as a working prison in After extensive renovations the Gaol reopened in 2012 as a visitor attraction and conference centre, a unique historic venue just minutes from Belfast City Centre. In a short space of time, the Gaol has established itself as a multi-functional and versatile venue for a wide range of Conference and Event requirements. Today you can take a guided tour of the prison to hear about the history of the site from a time when women and children were held within its walls through to the political segregation of republican and loyalist prisoners, and learn why the decision was taken to close the prison. Your event can further stand out from the crowd with a memorable guided tour or Living History experience, giving your guests insight into the unique historical nature of the venue. All of our rooms provide free Wi-Fi and AV options. Secure parking with up to 250 spaces is complementary with all Conference and Event bookings. We pride ourselves on providing bespoke and flexible events for our clients, ensuring that every client s event is tailored to provide the highest quality experience for their guests.

7 6 The Lanyon Suite is the Old Chapel of the Gaol, located on the first floor of the Governor s Building. Our largest individual space is the former Prison Chapel, the Lanyon Suite. The contemporary room boasts a fully integrated AV and sound system, dedicated bar and removable staging. It can comfortably hold up to 310 theatre style or 200 cabaret style. It includes an intimate mezzanine level which is an ideal setting for VIP guests. This is the perfect venue for conferences and workshops along with gala dinners and concerts. 9 8 The Circle is the hub of the Gaol from which all four wings radiate outwards. An impressive setting amidst beautiful Victorian architecture, the Gaol Circle and C-wing provide an authentic atmosphere for any event, particularly for an evening drinks reception or gala dinner. Sitting much like spokes on a wheel, this majestic surrounding will enhance your event and will leave your delegates truly captivated and steeped in the venue s history. 11 10 The Scullery housed the Gaol s original kitchen, located in the basement of the Governor s building The Scullery is a multi-functional room that has hosted a range of events from seminars to press launches, exhibitions and wedding ceremonies. A truly atmospheric and authentic setting located in the Basement of the Gaol, the Scullery is an ideal venue for small to medium conferences, private parties and dinner events. 13 12 John Forbes was the first serving Governor. This grand boardroom has appropriately been named after him. 15 The Governor s Office was the most important area in the entire prison during its operation. 14 The Governor s Office was the location where staff reported to the number one Governor until Today it is a perfect choice for private meetings or smaller groups, or an ideal option for a break-out space as part of a larger function. 19 The Matron was responsible for overseeing the duties of the prison wardresses and was under the direction of the Gaol Governor. 18 Located in the Basement of the Gaol, The Matron s Gallery is a unique area with fantastic natural light. It is a popular popular venue for art exhibition launches, drinks receptions and product launches. 20 19 Syndicate Rooms In addition to the main function rooms, Crumlin Road Gaol also hosts 30 unique syndicate rooms (Gaol Cells) and other reception areas. Ideal for smaller meetings, break-out rooms or back-of-house holding offices, the cells can accommodate up to eight guests. They are also perfect if you are looking to entertain a small number of guests in a private and impressive setting. Additional breakout rooms can accommodate up to 40 guests.

21 20 Outdoor facilities Enjoy the freedom of the outdoors at your event by making use of over 10 acres of outdoor space available. Impress your guests with an outdoor drinks reception overlooking the stunning Victorian architecture of the Gaol. Suitable for a vast range of functions, including festivals, music concerts, team building, outdoor shows, outdoor cinema and more. We will help to assist with selecting marquees of varying sizes, ensuring that no matter what the weather does, your guests will be kept comfortable at all times.

23 Delicious food and flexible catering adapting to your needs 22 We recognise that wonderful food is an integral part of any successful conference or event. Working with experienced caterers, we have developed versatile menus consisting of the finest local produce that can be tailored to suit your needs. We provide a memorable culinary experience with high quality food and service for all of your guests. You can choose from bacon rolls or tea and coffee to start your day or a selection of light bites over a working lunch. Full day meetings can take advantage of our daily delegate package with a number of tea and coffee breaks throughout the day along with a hot fork buffet lunch. For your evening event, a selection of delicious canapes or a themed three course meal will help to make a memorable event for your guests. We are committed to using locally sourced products and offer a wide range of healthy food choices. From tasty lunchtime treats to formal banquet dinners, food and drink at Crumlin Road Gaol is always enjoyable, satisfying and refreshing. Please refer to our sample menus for our range of options.

24 23 Historical tours & Living History Your events can further stand out from the crowd with a memorable guided tour or Living History experience, giving your guests insight into the unique historical nature of Crumlin Road Gaol. During a guided tour you will experience what life was like for prisoners in The Crum. You can visit the underground tunnel that connects the Gaol to the Crumlin Road Courthouse, view the four wings from the Circle and pay a visit to the Condemned Man s Cell before seeing the Execution Chamber where the majority of 17 men were hanged. A step back in time..add character to your event with the option of one or several of our professional and authentic Living History characters. The characters can take guests on a tour of their choice and then regale guests with their stories between courses or during breaks. Guests can be called to dinner by our very own Victorian Warder.

25 Specialist Tours 24 Crumlin Road Gaol offers a range of specialist tours in addition to the historical tour. You may request guided tours on a range of prison subjects including escapes, women and children prisoners, executions and paranormal activity. Paranormal Tours & 4 Hour Paranormal Investigations The Gaol has been connected with paranormal activity over its 170 year history, with sightings, noises and unexplained happenings reported within the walls that have seen 17 executions. The paranormal tour will take you to various hotspots of the Gaol where activity has been reported including the Gaol Reception, condemned Man s cell, Execution Chamber and the Tunnel. A more in-depth paranormal investigation is also available. Lasting four hours, you will be taken to the most active areas in the Gaol for Paranormal activity and will be given the chance to use expert equipment while conducting your own ghost hunt. This is strictly for over 18 s only and not suityable for expectant mothers. They are serious ghost hunts and not for the faint hearted! Escapes Crumlin Road Gaol was once an impregnable fortress, tasked with containing the most notorious and infamous prisoners in our recent history. Yet despite the watchtowers, high walls and razor wire, a few enterprising inmates managed to outwit the system, believed to be one of the most secure prisons in Europe.

Direction to on site free and secure Coach and Car Park: From A12 (Westlink) take the exit for Clifton Street / Mater Hospital Head northwest on Clifton St toward Carlisle Circus (Signposted Mater Hospital) At Carlisle Circus, take the 2nd exit onto Crumlin Rd Continue on Crumlin Road past the Mater Hospital and Crumlin Road Gaol (Both on right hand side) Turn right onto Cliftonpark Ave at Traffic Lights After 500 Yards take the 1st right onto Summer St At security office turn right and follow internal signage to coach park. Public Transport The Gaol is serviced by Translink s Metro Service 57 and 12B Monday to Saturday and there is a stop outside the Gaol. On Sundays we suggest you use the 12A service and get off a Carlisle Circus which is only a short distance from the Gaol.
