1 "#$%&'(#)*#&+#,-.+# Félix de la Concha was born in León, Spain, in From 1981 to 1985 he studied at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Madrid. He was awarded the Prix de Rome at the Academia de Bellas Artes in 1989, and worked in Rome until In 1995 he moved to the United States with his wife, poet Ana Merino. He resides in Iowa City, Iowa, and Madrid, Spain. His paintings are always done on site, in order to capture an accurate light, and study the passage of time. He focuses on architectural subjects, not only with prominent buildings, such as Fallingwater but also on common and even deteriorated places (gas stations, street lights, abandoned trailers, burned houses ). He does individual compositions and very often series of paintings and polyptychs. He has focused on a particular format of portraiture. In video, the sitter can be seen talking, and the painting evolving from blank canvas to the very conclusion of the work. SELECTED PROJECTS Columbus Cornered: One Season From Each Corner The first major project in America consists of four panoramas comprising a total of 32 works painted at the corners of West Second and Michigan Avenues in Columbus, Ohio. Painted over a one-year period, each panorama depicts a single season. 2 A Contrarreloj: A Race Against Time An exhibition of 24 paintings, one for each hour of the day, depicting Clayton, the former home of Henry Clay Frick. The paintings create a double panorama view of Claytons exterior and its surrounding neighborhood. Included is a diary of 54 interior views of the house. The exhibition was a result of an artist-in-residency program sponsored by the Frick Art Museum & Historical Center. 3 Public Portraits/Public Conversations A multimedia exhibition of 51 portraits and video recordings exploring the ways in which the portrait subjects have encountered conflict and their journey toward reconciliation. 4 Portraying Holocaust Survivors (in progress) Portraits of Holocaust survivors from different countries accompanied by recorded testimonies. Undertaken in an intimate setting with time allowed for interaction, the survivors are invited to tell their story as their portrait is painted.

5 The Longest Story of Bilbao Ever Painted Seven paintings with recorded interview sessions portraying elderly people in Bilbao, Spain. Produced as a documentary film and screened at several film festivals, it was awarded Best Documentary Short at SENE, and Honorable Mention at the Los Angeles International Film Festival.

6 Portraits With Conversations A multidimensional portrayal of a number of leading Spanish cultural figures. The work includes recorded interviews on their life, work, and views on art. Exhibited 2008: Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Madrid Exhibited 2011: Museo Cervantes, Valladolid Performance with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra An experiment on synaesthesia, painting on stage in the middle of the orchestra as Maestro Stefan Sanderling brings the music to life. 7 Panorama WBZ. Through the Looking-Glass This painting is a metaphor for the place of its placement. Adapted to the area of the wall, it was done in place, at the place, and for the place where it is permanently on display as part of the University of St.Gallens art collection. The panorama gives a sense of coherent continuation, although the viewers position changes constantly by a combination of different perspectives. We see the building simultaneously from both the outside and the inside, even though we thought that had not changed our position at all. Commissioned by the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. 8 St. Gallen Clock This composition constructs a particular Swiss clock, painting twelve different perspective of the Postturmuhr clock, at the Bahnhofplatz in St. Gallen.
