EMC Dcumentum is a leading prvider f missin-critical cntent and strage management slutins fr a wide variety f markets. SunGard Higher Educatin has partnered with these prven leaders t create, service, and supprt the ApplicatinXtender suite f sftware prducts as an integrated element within SunGard Higher Educatin s wn Banner slutins. Banner Dcument Management Suite integrates the ApplicatinXtender suite with Banner administrative slutins t prvide seamless availability f imaging, dcument management, enterprise wrkflw, utput management, prtable dcument cllectins, and strage management ptins fr bth Banner and nn-banner users. 7 Sectin 1 - Hardware and Sftware Guidelines fr the Required Cmpnents ApplicatinXtender database cmpnents and Banner integratin cmpnents are stred and/r run within the Banner database in Oracle. BDMS is delivered in a mdel similar t ther Banner mdules, where database bjects, tables, and packages are cntained within a schema specific t the BDMS mdule. ApplicatinXtender minimum infrastructure (n Web) is the Banner database, file strage, and a Windws system t run the License Server service. Mre infrastructure cmpnents may be desired fr scalability r fr ther functins such as web access, full-text indexing, and utput capture. Imprtant: The fllwing guidelines listed are specifically fr ApplicatinXtender cmpnents versin 6.5 ( ). ApplicatinXtender is als supprted fr BDMS 8.3 within EMC's supprt guidelines. Available Hard Disk Space Hard disk space varies depending n the wrkstatin type and third-party cmpnents. Fr example, an AX Administratr wrkstatin installatin requires up t 455 MB. AX als needs additinal space n the drive t stre temprary files during the installatin prcess. Memry Retrieval statins: 64 MB RAM minimum. Scanning Statin: Windws XP Prfessinal and Windws Server 2003 must have at least 128 MB f RAM. License Server versin 6.5 ( ) All wrkstatins accessing AX, and Web servers running AX Web Access must have netwrk access t the cmputer where the License Server is installed. Nte: License Server versin 6.5 is supprted n VMware ESX/ESXi Server 3.5 and 4.0 (vsphere). Dual r Quad Intel Xen prcessrs recmmended fr high-vlume deplyments. Available Hard Disk Space 170 MB fr WX Server, Cmpnent Registratin, IE Web Cntrls, and WX Cnfiguratin Service. Cache Disk Space 20 GB f free space shuld be reserved n the cmputer where the WX Server sessin cache resides. If the sessin cache is lcated n the WX Server, add 20GB t the amunt f required available hard disk space. Speed Fast SCSI hard drives with access times less than 0.5 ms are recmmended fr best perfrmance. Memry Recmmended: 2 GB and higher. 14 File Strage Dcuments, images, and any bjects managed by ApplicatinXtender are maintained n file strage. File strage can be shared RAID drives, SAN (Strage Area Netwrk) r NAS (Netwrk Attached Strage) devices, HSM (Hierarchical Strage Management), r integrated strage management systems like DiskXtender. Typical image file strage requirements fr dcuments assciated with SunGard Higher Educatin are abut 7GB per 100,000 images, fr letter-size B&W, 300 dpi, single-sided, Grup 4 Tiff files, which are the mst cmmn frmat fr mnchrme dcument imaging. This represents an average file size f 70KB, that yu can use fr rugh netwrk impact estimatins. File Strage Supprted Systems Netwrk File Server Shared Netwrk Drive EMC DiskXtender (Optical, WORM, Tape, DVD-RAM, and CD-ROM) Certified Scanners Refer t the fllwing link fr a list f all scanners that are supprted fr ApplicatinXtender: Nte: Yu can use ther scanners with the Banner Dcumentatin Management Suite, but if an ISIS driver is nt available fr that particular scanner mdel, yu may have t scan the dcuments t a separate directry at first, and then have ApplicatinXtender retrieve the scanned dcument frm that directry.
