1 1 About our Insurance Services In the following section we/us refers to Barclays Bank PLC and Barclays Insurance Services Company Limited. Barclays Bank PLC arranges home insurance through Barclays Insurance Services Company Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Barclays Bank PLC. The registered address of both Barclays Bank PLC and Barclays Insurance Services Company Limited is 1 Churchill Place, London E14 5HP. Statutory Status Both companies are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). FSA Register You can check that we are regulated by the FSA by visiting their website or by contacting the FSA on Advice or information We will provide advice and make a recommendation for you only after we have assessed your needs for home insurance. We can only offer home insurance from a single insurer. If you contact Finer Home Insurance on * any advice will be given to you on or behalf of Barclays Insurance Services Company Limited. Insurance obtained via the Barclays Bank PLC website is provided on a non advised basis. Complaints We hope that you will be very happy with the service we provide. However, if for any reason you are unhappy with it, we would like to hear from you. If you have complained to us and we have been unable to resolve your complaint, you may be entitled to refer it to this independent body. Following the complaints procedure does not affect your right to take legal action. Further details of our complaints procedure can be found in this policy booklet, or may be obtained from your insurance adviser or usual contact. Financial Services Compensation Scheme Our obligations are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If we were unable to meet our obligations, you could be entitled to compensation from this scheme, depending on the type of insurance and the circumstances at the time. Change of underwriter From time to time for commercial reasons Barclays Insurance Services Company Limited may decide to change its chosen insurer. In such circumstances we will write to you not less than 21 days before your current insurance expires with details of the new proposed insurer and any other current changes to the insurance. Accordingly, in order to ensure continuity of your insurance you hereby authorise us to transfer your data to any new proposed insurer and consent to receiving its offer insurance for consideration. Your cancellation rights are not affected. *For our joint protection and training purposes, telephone calls may be recorded and/or monitored.

2 2 Policy Summary Introduction This is a summary and does not contain the full terms and conditions of the cover, which can be found later in the policy booklet. It is important that you read the policy booklet and schedule carefully when you receive them. Name of the insurer The insurer of all sections of the policy, other than as noted immediately below is Gresham Insurance Company Limited. Registered Address: 8 Surrey Street, Norwich. Norfolk NR1 3NG The Personal Lawyer and travel legal expenses sections of this policy are insured by Brit Insurance Limited and managed by Capita Insurance Services Limited. The insurer of contents or buildings cover for properties situated abroad is Norwich Union Insurance Limited. Registered Address: 8 Surrey Street, Norwich, NR1 3NG. The above insurers are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Type of insurance and cover The Finer Home Insurance policy protects your home comprising, buildings, contents, fine art and antiques, personal belongings, travel, small craft and caravan. Some of the covers summarised below are optional and these are clearly marked as such. If you have selected any of these options, they will be itemised on your schedule. You can purchase either buildings or contents only cover, however, the optional covers can only be purchased with contents cover. All sections Claims service Finer Home Insurance comes with a dedicated claims team. You can notify a claim 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and in most cases no forms are necessary Home Security helpline free advice on security, fire prevention, health and safety and environmental issues. You can also request a free home security visit by one of our experts at Barclays Risk Services Legal and Tax helpline providing free expert advice Finer Home Insurance Travel Assistant 24-hour helpline, providing country information and information on a range of related issues such as currency, visa and health considerations. Homesitting Finer Home Insurance gives you access to the services of Homesitters Limited who can provide you with their own carefully vetted and insured Homesitters while you are away on holiday or for other extended periods Warranty Free for most customers, Finer Home Insurance is warranty free which can remove typical restrictions with regards to security Personal Lawyer Cover of 50,000 is included as standard with an option to increase to 100,000 Home Emergency Service cover is provided to pay for parts and materials following failure of the primary heating system, and a variety of other power and heating emergencies see policy booklet for full details Cover (excluding subsidence) can also be extended should you own a second home in mainland France, Spain or Portugal (optional) Monthly payment option. You must comply with the conditions of the policy explained in the General Conditions section of the policy booklet for cover to apply. These include your duty to take reasonable precautions to prevent loss, and actions you must take as soon as you are aware of a possible claim under the policy. See also the General Exclusions sections of the policy booklet for those exclusions that apply to all sections. You will have to pay the first part of most claims this is known as an excess. You will have selected your chosen excess for most claims, but this can vary within the policy for certain sections, e.g. no excess is payable under the Home Emergency section, and, for most cases, the subsidence excess is 1,000 under the Buildings section Loss or damage or gradual deterioration caused by wear, tear or depreciation, rot, damp, vermin or infestation Consequential loss Electrical or mechanical breakdown

3 3 Any specific exclusion or limitation shown in your policy schedule Building works and refurbishment at your home over a value of 25,000 without prior agreement. Buildings section See the Building section of your policy for full details. Cover is provided for loss or damage to Buildings and no deduction will be made for wear, tear or depreciation in the event of a claim. The amount insured must be sufficient to cover the cost of re-building to the same specification including an allowance for site clearance and professional fees. In addition, cover is provided for: Alternative accommodation following an insured loss or following compulsory evacuation by a local authority; Temporary removal of fixtures for restoration, renovation, repair or safekeeping; Re-landscaping your garden following damage caused by fire, explosion, malicious persons, riot, theft or attempted theft or being hit by vehicles, animals or aircraft 5% of the sum insured up to 25,000 or 5,000 for theft claims; Cost of tracing and accessing leaks up to 10,000; The buyer when you are selling your home; and Your legal liability up to 5,000,000 as owner of your home. Certain loss or damage when your home is unoccupied or unfurnished for more than 60 days in a row Theft or malicious damage caused by you, your paying guests or tenants Liability as occupier of your home (but this can be insured under the Contents section) Accidental damage, subsidence or heave caused by defective materials, design or workmanship The cost of replacing any undamaged items, which form part of a set or common design, other than a pair, however, we will cover the cost of replacement of undamaged parts of bathroom suites or fitted kitchens where replacements cannot be matched. Cover does not extend to all damage caused by subsidence Contents section See the Contents section of your policy booklet for details. Cover is provided for loss or damage to contents at the address shown in the schedule and while temporarily removed elsewhere in the world. The amount insured must be sufficient to replace the Contents as new. In addition, cover is provided for: Loss or damage to newly acquired Contents advised to us within 60 days of acquisition (up to 20% of amount insured); Alternative accommodation following an insured loss (up to 20% of amount insured); Outdoor items (up to 10,000); Pairs and sets, the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged item or the loss in market value of the damaged pair or set, whichever is least; Spoilage of food in freezers (unlimited); Accidental loss of domestic fuel and metered water (unlimited); Replacement locks if keys are lost or stolen (unlimited) Unrecovered Court Awards ( 1,000,000); Wedding and Christmas gifts temporary increase to Contents (up to 10% of amount insured); Your liability as occupier, employer, tenant and in a personal capacity see policy booklet for limits; Trauma benefit after a crime in your home, your policy provides assistance ranging from payment of fees towards private counselling, for temporary accommodation should you need to stay away from your home while security is improved, or fatal injury benefit should you die as a direct result of an injury by a third party; Preparing new Title Deeds, following loss or damage (up to 10,000); Credit cards ( 10,000 per card, 25,000 overall), personal money (up to 2,500), personal money in locked safe at your home (up to 5,000); Contents belonging to parents or grandparents in residential care (up to 7,500); and Students Contents belonging to members of your household in full-time education (up to 5,000);

4 4 Visitor s belongings (up to 5,000 per visitor); Business property (up to 15,000); Data replacement - following loss of personal or business data on your home computer (up to 5,000); Identity fraud - costs and legal expenses following the unlawful act of transferring or using, your means of identity (up to 10,000); and Theft from unattended road vehicles (up to 5,000). No cover is provided for aircraft, watercraft (other than sailboards, surfboards, windsurfers and jetskis) or trailers, motorised vehicles (other than domestic gardening equipment, golf carts, models and toys, unregistered vehicles for the disabled, unregistered motorcycles under 51cc and quad bikes used within the boundaries of your home) Certain loss or damage when your home is unoccupied or unfurnished for more than 60 days in a row Theft or malicious damage caused by you, your paying guests or tenants Theft from unattended road vehicles unless force and violent entry is used to a securely locked vehicle Liability arising from any motorised vehicle other than for unregistered motorcycles under 51cc and quad bikes, models, toys, and domestic gardening equipment used within the boundaries of the home, golf carts, unregistered vehicles for the disabled and model aircraft Liability arising from water craft or boards unless propelled by oars or paddles Liability as owner of your home (but this can be insured under the Buildings section) No cover is provided for jewellery, watches and guns with a single article limit over 5,000 and/or over 10,000 in total but this can be insured under the Personal Belongings section. Fine Art and Antiques optional See the Fine Art and Antiques section of your policy booklet for details. Loss or damage to Fine Art and Antiques at the address shown in the schedule and while temporarily removed elsewhere in the world. The amount insured must represent the full acquisition cost of the items or the current market value whichever is greater. In addition, cover is provided for: Loss or damage to newly acquired Fine Art and Antiques advised to us within 60 days of acquisition (up to 20% of the Fine Art and Antiques Sum Insured); Pairs and sets, the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged item or the loss in market value of the damaged pair or set, whichever is least; Death of an Artist up to 200% of amount insured due to increase in value following the death of the artist in the event of a valid claim; and Theft from unattended road vehicles up to 5,000. In addition to the terms applying to Contents above, the undernoted applies: Items in custody of dealers, auction rooms, museums or galleries when insured in the name of these institutions Single article limit 15,000 unless item is individually specified. Personal Belongings optional See the Personal Belongings section of your policy for full details. For Jewellery, Furs and Guns with a single article limit over 5,000 and/or valued over 10,000 in total. The amount insured must be sufficient to replace items as new. In addition, cover is provided for: Loss or damage to newly acquired personal belongings advised to us within 60 days of acquisition (up to 20% of the Personal Belongings Sum Insured);

5 5 Pairs and sets, the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged item or the loss in market value of the damaged pair or set, whichever is least; and Theft from unattended road vehicles up to 5,000. In addition to the terms applying to Contents above, the undernoted applies: Single article limit 5,000 unless item is individually specified. Personal Lawyer cover See the Personal Lawyer section of your policy booklet for details. Costs of pursuing a civil legal action arising directly from: Your death or personal injury including loss or damage to your personal belongings; Your buying, or hiring goods or services for your private use where amount in dispute is at least 125 including buying your home; Interference with your legal rights relating to your home including physical damage to your home; Your contract of employment; and Interference of your legal rights under the Data Protection Act. Costs of defending a civil legal action arising directly from: You privately selling your goods where the amount in dispute is at least 125 including selling your home; A prosecution relating to a motoring offence but not involving a parking offence; and An enquiry by the Inland Revenue into your private tax affairs. The insurer will only cover claims: Which occur during the period of insurance; Which have reasonable prospects of proceeding; Reported within 180 days of the event giving rise to your claim; Arising from interference with your legal rights relating to your home where they occur more than 180 days after the start of your legal expenses insurance; Arising from your contract of employment where they occur more than 90 days after the start of your Personal Lawyer cover. The insurer will not pay any costs incurred before your claim has been accepted. The insurer will not cover any claim arising from or relating to; A matter you should have realised might occur before entering into this contract; A dispute between you and the insurer or any member of The Aviva group of companies; Death, personal injury or damage to personal effects as a result of an accident involving a vehicle you were driving; Building, re-building, extending or converting a building; Subsidence, land heave, landslip, mining or quarrying; Patent, copyright, intellectual or artistic property or investments, including stocks and shares; Disputes between landlords and tenants; Planning laws and regulations and taxes relating to your home; and Equal pay legislation. Travel Section optional See the Travel section of your policy booklet for details. This section provides Worldwide Travel cover for all family members and domestic employees living at your home for holiday or business trips (clerical/administration only), not exceeding 60 days in duration, which commence during the period of insurance. UK trips are included only where they involve two or more nights stay in pre-booked accommodation. Winter Sports cover is optional and if selected will be shown on your policy schedule. The following features and benefits are provided (limits mentioned apply per insured person): 24-hour Worldwide Emergency Medical Service you may use our 24-hour Worldwide Emergency Medical Service for

6 6 immediate help with any emergency medical situation you have when outside the UK; Cancellation and Curtailment refund of pre-paid travel and accommodation costs up to 5,000 should you have to cancel or cut short your trip owing to the reasons stated in your policy booklet; Missed Departure additional travel and accommodation costs up to 750 if you miss your international departure from/to the UK owing to the reasons stated in your policy booklet; Personal Accident up to 25,000 is paid for death or loss of limbs/sight or permanent disablement; Medical and Repatriation Expenses up to 10 million for emergency treatment outside the UK, including repatriation and other necessary travel and accommodation expenses; Medical inconvenience and holiday disruption daily benefit up to 25 per day up to 1,000 in total if you have to stay in hospital as an in-patient outside the UK; Emergency physiotherapy and dental treatment up to 250 for necessary physiotherapy or dental treatment on return to the UK as a result of an accident occurring on a trip outside the UK; Delayed Baggage up to 250 for replacement of essential items following loss on the outward journey; Loss of Passport or Driving Licence extra travel or accommodation expenses up to 500 to replace these documents; Personal Liability up to 2m in respect of accidental injury to third parties or for damage to their property; Travel Delay compensation up to 100 if your booked means of travel is delayed for more than 12 hours; Mugging Benefit daily benefit up to 50 per day up to 500 in total if you have to stay in hospital as an in-patient following a mugging occurring outside the UK; Hijack daily benefit up to 200 per day up to 5,000 in total if you are held following the hijack of the aircraft or conveyance in which you are travelling; Legal Expenses up to 25,000 - cover for legal costs to pursue a civil claim following your personal injury or death death during your trip; Sporting Activities cover automatically applies for certain sporting activities defined within the policy booklet; and Winter Sports cover for up to 21 days (optional) cover for loss of or damage to ski equipment and compensation if you cannot ski due to piste closure or accident or illness. For cover to apply you must comply with the policy conditions of the Travel section of the policy. These include the need to tell us about pre-existing medical conditions and actions you must take whenever you are aware of a possible claim under this policy (e.g. you may need to notify the police within 24 hours). Children under 18 years of age are only covered if travelling with an adult insured under the policy or as detailed within the policy booklet. Cancellation, curtailment or medical expenses claim Arising from pre-existing medical conditions (See policy booklet for details) For pregnancy or childbirth if you are more than 32 weeks pregnant at the time of the claim For hospital or repatriation costs that have not been authorised by the Emergency Medical Service Medical expenses, curtailment or personal accident claims That result from your participation in organised sports or any sporting activity not covered by the policy and hazardous activities such as motorcycling on machines over 125cc, mountaineering, bungee jumping, white water rafting, potholing, racing, expeditions, crewing vessels between countries, ski jumping or ice-hockey In relation to winter sports activities unless this optional extension is insured Missed departure claims due to strike or industrial action existing or notified before you took out the policy and/or booked your trip Travel delay claims if you do not check in by the time you are supposed to. Legal Expenses - the insurer will only cover claims Which occur during the period of insurance; Have reasonable prospects of succeeding;

7 7 The insurer will not pay costs incurred before your claim has been accepted; The insurer will not cover any claims relating to a matter you should have realised might occur before entering into this contract. Small Craft section optional See the Small Craft section of your policy booklet for details. The amount insured must be sufficient to replace the items as new, less an amount for wear, tear and depreciation. The following cover is provided within the UK and Republic of Ireland and surrounding waters up to 12 miles: Accidental loss or damage to the craft including any inboard engine, normal gear and equipment plus outboard motor and trailer trolley if shown on the policy schedule; Your legal liability arising from ownership or use of the craft, up to 1m; and Medical expenses following your accidental bodily injury if the craft sinks or hits an external object. Loss, damage or legal liability unless the policy conditions of this policy section are observed (these relate to the safe use of the craft and security) Theft of outboard motor unless fitted with an anti-theft device or involving violent and forcible entry Theft of gear or equipment unless involving violent and forcible entry Loss or damage to outboard motors unless fitted to craft by a safety device Liability in respect of water skiing or similar activities while being towed by the craft unless you have chosen to pay an additional premium for this cover. The amount insured must be sufficient to replace as new if less than two years old but should allow for wear, tear, and depreciation if older. The following cover is provided for touring caravans only (not static or motor homes): Loss or damage to your caravan and ancillary equipment comprising awnings and general camping equipment; and Your legal liability arising from ownership or use of your caravan in the UK, Republic of Ireland and rest of the world in respect of temporary visits. Theft or attempted theft of your caravan unless secured by a wheelclamp or hitchlock Theft from an unattended caravan unless involving violent and forcible entry Business or professional use or letting out on hire Legal actions brought against you in courts other than in the UK or Republic of Ireland. Duration of Policy This policy will remain in force for 12 months from the date of commencement (or as otherwise shown on your Policy Schedule) and as long as you continue to pay the premium. Cancellation rights You have the right to cancel your policy during a period of 14 days either from the day of purchase of the contract or the day on which you receive your policy documentation, whichever is the later. A full explanation of your cancellation rights can be found in this policy booklet. Caravan section optional See the Caravan section of your policy booklet for details.
