1 Veterans Multi-Service Center VTF-IT Program Details Please make sure to read this document in its entirety, and verify that you understand the program details by signing at the bottom and returning a copy of this form to us along with your registration form. Overview: Veterans Multi Service Center (VMC) is offering free Microsoft training and Microsoft Certification exams for qualifying PA Veterans and PA Guard. After a qualified participant chooses a certification track and successfully completes the training courses provided by VMC, we will pay for the required exam/exams to acquire that particular certification. Once a participant is certified in their chosen track, we will provide assistance in job search and job placement. Important Note: While this program is free to all qualifying PA Veterans and PA Guard, space is limited. To ensure that you can take advantage of the free training and exams in this program, make sure to register early and complete your course(s) in a timely fashion. The free exams will be on a first-come first-served basis until the allotted amount is used. Why You Should Get Certified: Microsoft Certifications can help you secure employment or move up in your current line of work. According to Microsoft, 91% of hiring managers consider certification as part of their hiring criteria. 1 A Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification is considered to be a strong starting point for anyone entering the IT field Certifications in programs like Excel can help you secure jobs in business or accounting, such as a CPA Certifications in programs like Word can help you secure jobs in office or clerical settings, such as an administrative assistant Courses are free, and you can complete them from the comfort of your own home or computing location What We Can Provide: Free online training courses that you can take on your own computer Extra online resources that you can use to prepare for the exams We will pay for you to take the required exam(s) one time. 2 Certification Types Offered: 1. Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification Demonstrate that you have the skills needed to get the most out of Microsoft Office by earning a Microsoft Office Specialist certification in a specific Office program. We offer training courses in either Microsoft Office 2010 or Microsoft Office Though the courses cover all of the Microsoft Office programs, you only need to take and pass a certification exam in one of the following programs to become certified as a Microsoft Office Specialist. Remember, VMC will only pay for one of the following exams. Microsoft Word 2010 Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2013 Microsoft Excel 2010 Microsoft OneNote 2010 Microsoft Office Outlook 2013 Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Office Access 2013 Microsoft Outlook 2010 Microsoft Office Word 2013 Microsoft Office SharePoint 2013 Microsoft Access 2010 Microsoft Office Excel 2013 Microsoft Office OneNote 2013 Note: The Microsoft Office 2010 course contains 47 training modules, the Microsoft Office 2013 course contains 13 modules, and the Microsoft Office 365 course contains 19 modules. Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) is a recommended entry point into IT certification and job preparation. If you are just starting your IT career path or are looking to enhance your understanding of IT fundamentals, MTA certification can validate your core knowledge. And, as an industry-recognized credential, it can also enhance your credibility. You can earn an MTA certification by passing any one exam in one of the following tracks, depending on your interests and career goals. Remember, VMC will only pay for one of the following exams. We will provide you with downloads of the programs below, should you choose to pursue one of these tracks. The regular text below indicates the certification and exam type, while the italicized text indicates what program you would take a course in. For example, if you were interested in IT infrastructure, you could get your MTA Certification by completing a course in Windows 7 and taking the Windows Operating System Fundamentals exam. IT Infrastructure Track (for those intending to build a career in desktop or server infrastructure or private cloud computing) Database Track (for those intending to build a career in data platform administration or business intelligence) Developer Track (for those intending to build a career as a software developer, this track helps prepare you for hands-on product training and MCSD certification. Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Certification: This certification requires highly advanced technical knowledge and skills. If you already have significant experience with Windows Server 2012 and are interested in this certification, please contact us at MScerts@VMCenter.org. To view Microsoft s details and descriptions of the MCSE certification, visit Job Assistance: Upon successful completion of the training program and passing a certification exam, you will have the assistance of a Job Developer who will work with you to find and apply for jobs. You will be able to obtain assistance in writing and editing resumes and cover letters, searching for various jobs, and completing and submitting job applications.
