2 Page 2 San Sebastian Catholic Church November 13, 2011 Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time CHANGE OUR LIVES The letters of Paul to the Thessalonians are among his earliest writings, and are driven by his belief and the belief of the entire early Christian community that the return of Christ was imminent, and that devoting time or attention to anything else was foolish. As time progressed, this fervor subsided a bit. Today we may wonder, when we hear these readings about the coming end-times, if we should take them to heart, if we really believe that Christ still may come upon us as a thief at night (1 Thessalonians 5:2). Does this mean that we are to stop our long-range goal-setting, get rid of our yearly calendars and planners, or stop putting money in the college education fund? Of course not. What it does mean is that we need to change our lives, living like children of the light and illuminating the world around us with the light of the gospel. Then, on that day, when the details of our daily living become unimportant, we will be ready to find our peace and security in Christ Jesus. Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co. Los dones que nos ha dado Señor, son para construir su Reino, desde aquí y para la eternidad Se dice que no hay rico tan rico que no tenga nada que recibir, y no hay pobre tan pobre que no tenga nada que dar. Todos debemos poner a trabajar los talentos que hemos recibido para entrar en el gozo del Señor. Todos debemos tener una participación activa en el Reino de Dios. A veces pareciera que la pereza en todas sus variantes fuera el dique que estorba el flujo de los dones, que es urgente poner al servicio del prójimo todos nuestros talentos, para su bien, el nuestro y el del Reino. Donations needed: aluminum cans, newspapers, cell phones & small electronics. Drop off ALUMI- NUM CANS (Beer & Soda Only) behind the Knights Hall; drop off NEWSPAPERS in the bin located in the front east parking lot; drop off CELL PHONES etc. in the Gathering Space. WE CANNOT ACCEPT PLASTIC BOTTLES, PLASTIC BAGS OR CARDBOARD. Food Drive - Please bring non-perishable food items for needy families in our community every 3rd weekend of the month. Thank you for your continuing generosity. Diaper Drive - The Ladies Guild sponsors an on-going Diaper Drive for diapers & wipes to be donated to St. Gerard House.
