3 I. Purpose of the Report The Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21 st Century Act (MAP-21) requires that the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) publish Annual List of Federally-Obligated Projects. Specifically: An Annual Listing of projects (including investments in pedestrian walkways and bicycle transportation facilities) for which Federal funds (under 23 U.S.C. or 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53) have been obligated in the preceding programming year shall be published or otherwise made available by the cooperative effort of the State, transit operator, and metropolitan planning organization for public review. This listing shall be consistent with the funding categories identified in each Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP). The present report fulfills this requirement by listing all federally-funded transportation projects in the tri-county Monterey,, and AMBAG region that were obligated from October 1, 2013 until September 30, 2014, Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) refers to the federal government s commitment to pay or 3
4 reimburse the lead agency for the federal share of a project s cost. does not indicate expenditure or project completion; only that the project has been approved for federal reimbursement. 4
5 II. Annual List of Report for FFY 2014 This report is divided into two parts between the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding programs. Within each agency fund grouping, the obligations are listed by the different funding programs. The obligation information for FHWA-funded programs was provided by the California Department of Transportation, while the obligation information for FTA-funded programs derived from the transit providers (Monterey Salinas Transit, Metropolitan Transit District, and County Local Transportation Authority) and/or the respective implementing agencies. This report lists only federal obligations; no state or local funds are reported. 5
