3 I am a MPA student at UNCW concentrating in Nonprofit Management. My educational background in anthropology has given me the unique ability to solve problems related to difficult human situationss with poise. More recently, I have been involved in implementing surveys for the e Wilmington Police Department and the Cape Fear Chapter of the American Red Cross to assess human capital matters within such organizations. I possess both highly developed emotional and analytical intellect and aspire to use such abilities to become a professional ombudsman, mediator, or HR specialist. My presence of mind in tense situations, along with my passion for problem solving and aptitude for hard work, make me an excellent candidate for helping public institutions uphold their ultimate missions of serving the public good. While beginning my secondary educational experience at Western Carolina University, I knew I wanted to make a difference in my community. With my desire to make the world a better place I plan to accomplish this by obtaining my Maters in Public Administration at the University of North Carolinaa Wilmingtonn with a concentration in Environmental Policy and pursuing a careerr in the non-profit environmental sector. With skills in public relations, administration, and community involvement I am on my way to making my difference in the community. I obtained my Master ss in Public Administration to make a positive impactt in the communities that I live in. Whether it s providing statistical analysis to local government programs or implementing planning techniques to create a sustainable future, my passion is to createe sound communities. In addition, with over 15 years of managerial experience, I bring logical, critical thinking skills, various communication strategies, the ability to motivate others, and more to my pursuit of public service. Having public government experience, I am more than prepared to draw upon my professional and educational experiences to meet the challenges that face communities today and in the future.

4 I am an energetic, talented, and can-do manager of staff andd volunteers, having served as a director in a nonprofit setting for five years, making sure the organizationn achieved the results they needed. I am an expert analyst in the fields of public administration and nonprofit management: comfortable in detailed technical work and writing, while also skilled in building consensus with colleagues via strategic discussions and planning. My service on nonprofit boards shows my interest in making a difference while ensuring that organizations are effective and resourceful. My degrees in political science and music from Wake Forest and the MPA with highest honors from UNCW indicate that he cann quickly make an impact in any situation, in a team or leadership role, thriving on robust and accountable service. I am currently a 2nd year graduate student in the Master of Public Administration program at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. In addition to graduate school, I work part-time as a community manager, and I am certified as a CMCA (Certified Manager of Community Associations) and an AMS (Association Management Specialist). I have served in local government ass both a Chieff Judge of my polling precinct in the 2008 election and as a Commissioner on the Wilmington Sister City Commission for three years. After graduation in the fall of 2014, I plan to attain a position in local government, where I may use my skills to make a positive impact on policy and governance in the Cape Fear area.
