Palmer College of Chiropractic Davenport, IA Palmer College of Chiropractic is the founding college of chiropractic and is located in Davenport, Iowa. It was established in 1897 by Daniel David Palmer and is considered "The Fountainhead," as it was the first school of chiropractic in the world. What is Chiropractic? Chiropractic, the world's foremost natural health care science, is rooted in history as far back as the ancient Greeks. But most significantly, in the late 1800s, the spine and nervous system were given specialized, intense research and study. Chiropractic concerns itself with the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (primarily coordinated by the nervous system) of the human body and how that relationship affects the restoration and preservation of health. Chiropractic employs neither drugs nor surgery. What is Chiropractic care? Chiropractic care restores and preserves health by improving the body's structure, primarily the spine, and function, primarily coordinated by the nervous system. At Palmer, we view chiropractors as the primary care professions for spinal health and well-being. What career paths are available? * Solo practitioner * Administrator * Multi-specialty group practitioner * Hospital staff * VA/DoD chiropractor * Education * Fitness facility chiropractor * Researcher * Associate Palmer College of Chiropractic has three campuses: Davenport, Iowa Port Orange, Florida San Jose, California Programs Doctor of Chiropractic - All Palmer Campuses Palmer's Doctor of Chiropractic degree program offers you a rigorous academic education and hands-on learning in both classroom and clinical settings. Along with chiropractic's best classroom instructors, you'll have the opportunity to learn from chiropractic researchers at the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research - the world's leading chiropractic research facility.
9 9 The chiropractic student, during five rigorous academic years of study normally completed in three-and-one third calendar years, is trained to know all structures and functions of the human body and to recognize the interrelationship of all parts. Chiropractic education centers on the concept of health, not disease. Chiropractors provide a highly appealing primary health care approach because they do not perform surgery or prescribe medicine. Chiropractic is sought increasingly as the public's awareness of their responsibility for health maintenance grows. If, however, a Doctor of Chiropractic determines the patient requires attention from another branch of the health care professions, that recommendation or referral is encouraged. Seeking: Summer Counselor- Incredibly rewarding opportunity as you help make a fun and exciting camp experience possible for individuals with disabilities and health concerns. Make a positive difference in their lives as you assist with camper s participation in activities and personal care needs. Summer Program Leader- Be responsible for facilitating safe, fun, and challenging programs for individuals with disabilities and health concerns so they have a successful and rewarding camp experience. Health Professions Club Otterbein Student Organizations To aid in professional development, provide opportunities for professional networking and social interaction in the area of health, fitness, allied health and physical education.
