2 Message from the Headmaster In a week in which we have celebrated our Queen becoming the longest reigning monarch in British history, we have also started to explore and discuss what our government describes as British Values. Whether Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance are uniquely British is questionable, but their importance in any society is certainly not. Miss Gaudion s tutor group finished the week with a lovely assembly that emphasised the importance of these values and earlier in the week the senior school were left to think about what the morally right thing to do is with regard to the current EU migrant crisis. At Moyles Court we recognise the importance of the individual and developing independence of thought is a fundamental aspect of our work. I hope your children have come home in this first full week of the year, full of enthusiasm and curiosity and eager to share with you their thoughts and ideas on the work they have completed. It has been a fabulous week and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Family Fun Day on Saturday and wish you all a wonderful weekend. 3 A shiny new bus for Moyles Court! Much excitement this week as we took delivery of our new mini bus! This shiny new vehicle joins our fleet of mini buses as we expand our transport network this Autumn term. The school s transport network has expanded from September to cover a wider area with six routes. Buses will now extend as far as Lyndhurst and Lymington, Totton, Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne and South Wiltshire. The heavily subsidised service will cost far less than bringing your children to school by car and will help working families cope with their busy lives. Please do contact School Reception if you require further information on our buses. Do also look out for our new bus advertising campaign - the wheels on the bus really do go to Moyles Court! Our revamped Library! Mrs. Smith and Mr. Babur have spent their summer holiday revamping the Library. Each book that can be found in the library has now been barcoded and added to a central database thanks to MicroLibrarian software. Pupils and staff should now find it much easier to find books within the Library, as well as checking out books that can be read at home. All pupils and members of staff have their very own special code which allows them to take books out of the Library. The bookshelves have also been rearranged to make room for the trophies that are given out at the annual Prize Winners day, ensuring that past winners have the recognition that they thoroughly deserve! There is now even a dedicated Shakespeare and Poetry section within the library, as well as a now impressive collection of books that cater towards children from Key Stage 1 all the way to the end of Key Stage 4. Furthermore, a laptop trolley has now been added to the Library's repertoire, meaning that our Library can be used by all pupils as a research hub. It has been a mammoth task for both Mrs. Smith and Mr. Babur, but hopefully one that should see improvements with children's attitudes towards reading for not only educational benefits, but also for enjoyment.

4 The Bookies Club A very high standard has been set by those attending 'The Bookies'. In particular Evie Senior who read out loud fluently, tackling some rather challenging vocabulary. Well done Evie! We are now up to Chapter 17 (page 47) of the wonderful 'Maggot Moon' by Sally Gardner. There is still time to join 'The Bookies' whatever your age. If it's just that the club clashes with something else you enjoy, please let Miss Gaudion know, we can be very flexible about when we meet. Junior Woodwind Workshop On Wednesday 16th September at 1pm-1:55pm Mrs. Corlett and Mrs. Bolter, a peripatetic teacher, will be holding a Junior woodwind workshop. Pupils are invited to bring with them any woodwind instruments they may already own or can get hold of to borrow for the event (recorders, ocarinas, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, oboes and bassoons!) Pupils will have the opportunity to see these instruments in action at the highest level and be invited to try them out for themselves. If your child is in the Six-a-side Tournament on the same day, do not worry there will be another opportunity to take in a workshop.

5 Congratulations Tom! We are delighted that Tom in Year 11 has been selected to compete at the British Cycling Inter Regional Mountain Bike Championship 2015 which is taking place at the Olympic venue at Hadleigh Farm in Essex next weekend. This is an amazing achievement which reflects how much hard work Tom has put in. Congratulations Tom! We are very proud of you. Boarding News We warmly welcome our new boarders who joined Moyles Court last week - William, Pedro, Bobby, Bryan, Natalia, Audrey, Charlotte,Belen and Leyre. The term got off to a flying start when Miss Christopher and Mr. Berry took them for a bike ride at Moors Valley. The skill of cycling is still being perfected by some, but the weather was good and fun was had by all! A trip to Ringwood and Salisbury allowed for tuck and other provisions to be bought. A warm welcome is also extended to Alejandra and Belen who have joined us for a year from Ecuador. They will be working in the boarding houses, but will also be assisting in the infant and junior school. Charlotte Penrose

7 PTA News Moyles Court PTA We are a relaxed committee without pressure. We would like to invite you to a coffee morning from 8.45am on 24 th September 2015 in the dining room.
