I stress student engagement via many classroom activities and multi-media presentations as well as by eliciting student experiences that reinforce the material. I feel homework and projects involving software applications are important applied learning tools for students. Research Interests: My research is in the areas of optimization algorithms and their applications to decision support systems. I employ mathematical modeling as well as simulation, data mining and visualization techniques. My research involves the development of exact and heuristic algorithms coupled with appropriate data structure design. Much of my work involves advances in the Unconstrained Binary Quadratic Problem and a unique mixed-integer program pre-processor, based on Taguchi methods and experimental design sampling techniques which has been successfully integrated into branch-and-cut and metaheuristic search algorithms.

Research Analyst, TelOptica, Inc Team member of a start-up company providing Java-based decision support systems and professional services to the telecommunications industry. Primary task: leading development and integration of network flow algorithms (both stochastic and deterministic). Adjunct Instructor, Computer Science & Engineering Department, Southern Methodist University Introduction to C Programming, Introduction to Computers & Information Technology Project Engineer, Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems, Fort Worth, TX Engineering management experience at all levels of the system development life cycle for various F-16 aircraft avionics. Did initial research on, obtained funding for and managed the development and production of an aft crew station Heads-Up-Display used for situational awareness and improved human factors.
