1 Page: Page 1 of 5 DIVISION LOCATION REPORTS TO SUPERVISES BUSINESS SERVICES CAMBERWELL Financial Controller Payroll Team PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF DIVISION Baptcare seeks to deliver Christian care to those in need. It employs over 1200 people to work together to achieve this and a large number of volunteers who add significant additional value to Baptcare s service delivery. Baptcare employs the Business Services team to provide the services that support the organization. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION - To support the Financial Controller in all areas of payroll, including employee payments, and the development and maintenance of payroll systems, processes and procedures. - Provide effective leadership and direction of the payroll team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of payroll services to Baptcare divisions and employees. - Ensure that the payroll team displays a strong customer service ethos and possesses the capability and expertise to achieve high quality service standards. - Identify, establish build and maintain effective network links and relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. - Ensure the effective development and implementation of change management strategies to support service reform and business improvement initiatives that contribute to achieving improved operational efficiency and service delivery. PERSON SPECIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS Desirable - Member of a professional payroll association. ATTRIBUTES, APTITUDES AND COMPETENCIES Essential - Proven ability to provide leadership and direction to ensure team objectives are achieved. - Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplined teams. - Strong focus on customer service. - Highly developed interpersonal skills. - Proven ability to work cohesively and harmoniously within a team environment. - Superior written and verbal communication abilities. - Results driven. - Ability to respond to continual challenges. - Superior knowledge and skill in working with the business to develop, document and communicate payroll processes and procedures. - Demonstrable change management skills to lead and generate positive acceptance and commitment of staff to ongoing improvements and change. - Extensive knowledge of awards, ATO requirements, FBT, PRT and workcover payments. Desirable - Advanced IT skills in payroll systems and Excel.

2 Page: Page 2 of 5 EXPERIENCE Essential - Significant experience working in payroll at a senior/management level. - Proven experience in developing and enhancing payroll systems, processes, procedures and reporting. - Extensive experience in providing high quality, relevant and meaningful payroll support and advice to operations and senior management. - Experience in managing a team, and mentoring and developing staff. 3 Page: Page 3 of 5 Reporting Relationships The Payroll Manager reports to the Financial Controller but will assist all members of the Business Services team as required. Performance Management An annual appraisal will be conducted. OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION The Employment is subject to a 6 months minimum employment period upon commencement with Baptcare. POSITION DETAILS 1. Payroll processing Processing, co-ordination and management of the entire payroll function. Payroll data is entered efficiently and accurately. Ensure the accurate, efficient and timely processing of Baptcare s payroll. Fortnightly pay data is checked, and any anomalies investigated and corrected where necessary, prior to disbursement of the payroll. Payroll is transmitted on time, every time. Employee payments are made within contractual, award and legislative All payroll and related queries are responded to within defined timelines. Liaise with HR on award interpretation. 2. Payroll/Rostering system Take a lead role in the selection and implementation of Baptcare s HRIS system. The payroll/rostering system is utilised to ensure accurate and timely employee payments. Establish a consolidated, detailed and comprehensive manual of the payroll/rostering system for the Payroll team, HR and other users. Comprehensive payroll/rostering manuals are developed and kept up to date. Users are aware, understand and utilise the manuals. Continue to develop and enhance the payroll/rostering system. The payroll/rostering system is fully developed, standardised and utilised. Develop and document monthly payroll/rostering procedures.

4 Page: Page 4 of 5 3 Payroll/rostering reporting Pro-actively work with key stakeholders on an ongoing basis to determine reporting Payroll/rostering reports are appropriate, timely, accurate and useful to management and the business. Assist the Management Accountant to develop actual vs budget payroll/rostering reports. 4 Payroll returns Ensure that relevant payroll returns are prepared and submitted within the legislated time frames. Returns include, but are not limited to - PAYG deductions Superannuation guarantee contributions TFN declarations All returns are submitted within legislated timeframes. All returns are accurate. Monitor relevant legislation advising senior management of amendments and implementing changes to procedures where necessary. 5 Payroll accounting information Liaise with the Finance team to determine the required payroll accounting information. Ensure the payroll accounting is provided as required. Accounting information will included, but is not limited to - Monthly payroll costs Leave provisions Workcover costs (recoverable and non-recoverable) Fringe Benefits (liaise with salary packaging provider). Accounting information is accurate and provided within required timeframes. Payroll accounts are reconciled within required timeframes and any errors or adjustments are reported to the Finance team immediately. Reconcile payroll and related clearing accounts.

The payroll/rostering information provided for proposed new programs is provided as required and is accurate. Be the key contact and liaison for the project manager. 8. Other Provision of support to the GM Business Services, Financial Controller and Finance team as required. Support provided to GM Business Services, Financial Controller and Finance team as necessary. Flexible approach to completing all tasks as directed.
