4 1 INFORMATION ABOUT ROVERETO 1.1 CONTACT INFORMATION 1.2 TRAVELING AND ACCOMODATION INFORMATION - HOW TO ARRIVE TO ROVERETO You can reach Rovereto by train from several airports: Verona is the closest, but for any convenience you can flight to Venice, Bergamo, Treviso, Milano (Malpensa or Linate) or Bologna and reach Rovereto by train. The train time schedule is available on the website of the national company Trenitalia. We suggest to select the English version, because the Italian version is tricky. You can also look at the German company Deutsche Bahn that sometimes has good offers and once a day (at 13.47) permit to reach Rovereto from Venice without changing train in Verona Porta Nuova. How to reach Rovereto from Verona A shuttle service regularly connects Verona airport (Catullo) with Verona Porta Nuova train station, from which you can reach Rovereto by train. 5 How to reach Rovereto from Bologna A shuttle service regularly connects the Bologna airport (Marconi) to Bologna train station, from which you can reach Rovereto by train (there is a direct line usually). Bologna airport Bologna train station (20 minutes) Bologna Rovereto (the time varies from 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2 hours and 40 minutes, depending on the train) How to reach Rovereto from Venice From Venezia airport (Marco Polo) there are two different shuttle services to Venezia-Mestre train station (sometimes called Mestre FS). From Venezia Mestre you can reach Rovereto in 2-3 hours (depends on the connections usually in Verona Porta Nuova). Venezia airport Venezia Mestre train station (17 minutes with ATVO shuttle and 25 minutes with ACTV urban bus) ATVO ACTV Venezia Mestre train station (sometimes called Mestre FS) Rovereto (2-3 hours, depends on the connections in Verona Porta Nuova) How to reach Rovereto from Treviso A shuttle service regularly connects the airport to Treviso train station, from which you can reach Rovereto by train (you have to go through Venezia Mestre FS). Treviso airport Venezia Mestre train station (1 hour) How to reach Rovereto from Milano - Bergamo (Orio al Serio) From Bergamo airport (called Milano Bergamo Orio al Serio) leaves a bus that takes you to Bergamo station. There you can reach Rovereto trough Verona Porta Nuova train station. Milano Bergamo airport Bergamo train station (20 minutes) Bergamo station Rovereto (around 3 hours connections in Brescia and Verona) Another possibility is to go to Milano centrale train station and take the train. Milano Bergamo airport Milano centrale station (1 hour) (look Orio al Serio Milano) Milano centrale station Rovereto (around 2 h and 30 minutes - connection in Verona Porta Nuova) How to reach Rovereto from Milano Malpensa There is a shuttle every 20 minutes from the airoport to Milano centrale station. 7 How to reach Rovereto from Milano Linate There is a shuttle every 30 minutes from the airport to Milano Centrale station. From there you can reach Rovereto by train. Milano Linate airport - Milano centrale station (25 minutes) Milano centrale station Rovereto (around 2 h and 30 minutes connection in Verona Porta Nuova) ACCOMODATION Rovereto offers hotels, bed and breakfast and a nice youth hostel. The meeting will take place in the Psychology and Cognitive Sciences Department, which is located in corso Bettini 31. You are kindly suggested to choose an accommodation nearby or walking distance. On the web site of Ufficio del turismo ( you can find a few suggestions for your accomodation. The list is on the mentioned website. 1.4 VENUE & LOCAL TRANSPORT Rovereto is a small town: the station is very close to Hotel Rovereto, Leon d Oro and the Hostel. The Faculty of Psychology and Cognitive Science is walking distance from the hotels (the building is in front of the Mart Museum of Contemporary Art) WEATHER The weather in November in Rovereto is unpredictable, but usually the average temperature is between 5 and 15 C. It can be very rainy. 9 Time for travelling is not recognized as time for the project. However, for example, if you do prepare the meeting during the trip, then that is work for the project of course. The maximum daily subsistence (according to the EU rules) for Italy is 247 per day (including hotel). However, if your university uses a lower maximum daily subsistence, you should apply your university rule. The maximum amount of days is counted as the total amount of (necessarily) nights. What needs to be discussed during next two days? 17:00 Project meeting, partners participation 17:30 Finish University of Cumbria already had severe problems to participate, as was also mentioned in the progress report to the EU. After request they have reported that they want to be withdrawn from the project as they cannot fulfil the requirements. They will send a letter to confirm the situation, so EU can be officially notified. University of Oviedo was active till so far, but missed some meetings, as was also mentioned in the progress report to the EU. Nevertheless, in the meantime the situation has become worse; our contact person Alberto has got another job and, although trying hard, has nearly any time to work on the project. There seems to be no support from the university management. Alberto would prefer if we could withdraw partner from the project. University management can be written that they have promised to participate, but impression is that such kind of letter will not help much. That brings us to the question if we can fulfil the project objectives with the current number of partners (eight). The main issue is the development of 20 Open Courses. Discussion is needed if we can deliver those 20 with just eight partners. It should be noted that Oviedo participated already in the preparation of the online courses together with University of Regensburg. 11

13 4 AGENDA NOVEMBER 6, 2014 Venue: Conference Room, Palazzo Istruzione, Corso Bettini 84, Rovereto Aim of today: meeting of the steering committee; discuss progress of all work packages, making appointments about further work to be done, re-allocating work where necessary; discuss the quality of what we are developing. 09:00 Project meeting, going through the work packages WP01: Developing OCW structure o WP01.01 Done. No discussion needed o WP01.02 Done. No discussion needed (unless yesterday presentations learns us something different) o WP01.03 (Groningen) We discussed to change the webportal to a site based upon EdX software. This is currently in progress, but there are some technical problems. Hopefully something can be presented during the meeting. o WP01.04 (Groningen) The current version is working; the EU evaluators had quite some critiques about the dynamics of the website. A part of the answer to that critique is that the dynamics is not on the website, but within the courses. However, we need to discuss how we can stimulate a more dynamic website o WP01.05 (Groningen) Done. However, when we change to the EdX structure, new support might be needed. o WP Done. Furthermore it follows from WP WP02 Development of OCW: o WP02.01 What has been left from the wrapup session yesterday o WP02.02 (Trento) Done. No discussion needed o WP02.03 (Trento) Are we on track? Everyone reports its own progress on this activity. There are two main issues to discuss: There seems to be quite some delays, also because Courses are delivered late. How can we improve the process? Are we critical enough in the peer review? Does it help the development of the courses? o In addition we need to discuss if the access to the courses is documented well enough for future evaluation/reporting 13

14 10:30 Coffee break WP03 Study groups o WP03.01 (Regensburg) At the Prague meeting we were doubting if specific instructions would be needed. However, for future use especially by people outside of the project such support is necessary. The suggestion is to make a short OCW for it within the portal. This activity can be elaborated Friday. We need to discuss who will do this activity. This is closely related to WP06.02 and WP o WP In progress. No discussion needed (remind also yesterday s discussions) o WP (Coimbra) Done. No discussion needed o WP Report on activities done. Are we on track? Are all reports of finished courses there? Are the reports sufficient? o WP03.05 Study group articles. See discussion presentations yesterday on update of articles per finished course o WP03.06 Webinars. As discussed before, webinars are done within courses. 11:00 Continuing: Going through the work packages WP04. Assessment procedures o WP04.01 (Tartu) Piret (P02) has asked us to deliver information for the assessment table. Has everyone delivered the proper information? Is anything else needed? o WP04.02 (Tartu) Within the current courses we experiment with assessment procedures (as has been discussed yesterday). What is the progress on that? What can we learn from that? Does it give us information about the format for WP04.01? WP05 Analysis of the online cooperation o WP05.01 (Joensuu) We got severe critique of the EU evaluators on this tool. After internal discussion we concluded that we have the impression we are collecting the information that we need and can represent. We will discuss with EU evaluator why the evaluators impression is different than ours. o WP05.02 (Prague) See WP05.02 o WP05.03 (Joensuu) Of the three finished courses, there are only two monitoring reports, but those reports are just presenting data. We need to discuss and decide upon what should be in such reports. Suggestion is to prepare on Friday in a smaller group a format for such report. 14

15 12:30 Lunch o WP05.04 (Joensuu) The research paper should be discussed during our next meeting, after there is enough data. WP06 Exploitation and valorisation plan o WP06.01 (Groningen). The general idea of exploitation and valorisation in this project is, next to the activities in dissemination (WP07) which focus on reaching out target groups, to focus on training of teacher educators in developing courses according to our ideas, to organize national workshops to reach our target group in each of the participating country and to deliver a handbook. However, we also need to think about keeping the portal alive after the project by our own activities. Discussion is needed what is necessary to organize SoNetTE in such a way that it is also in a longer term beneficiary for our institutes. Detailed plans for the exploitation plan can be evolved tomorrow. o WP06.02 (Regensburg) Update on progress. The course is planned for June How far is the organization of the course? What is needed from partners? o WP06.03 (Groningen/Prague) Now we have the first experiences with courses, we do have input for developing the Handbook for Teacher Educators. We should discuss if we want to be this a traditional kind of handbook or an online course to reach the same goal (supporting teacher educators how to develop OCW). The planning of the work itself will be done tomorrow (see also activity WP03.01). o WP06.04 (Groningen/Prague) The national workshops have to be planned soon. Furthermore we need to start to develop the content of the workshop. What do we want to tell/demonstrate/show? Update on the progress per partner. o WP (Groningen) The project website is up and running as portal (see workpackage 1). However, it is not very active. What can we do to increase the dynamics of the website? WP08 Evaluation o WP08.01 (External evaluators/groningen) After critique on the progress report, the external evaluators have rewritten the Evaluation Plan. At the moment there is a draft version which will be finished this week. o WP08.02-WP08.03 Done, no discussion needed o WP08.04-WP08.05 (External evaluators/groningen) Coordinator discussed the evaluation results with evaluators on 20/10/14.
