1 Switching Banks Has Never Been Easier! By using the Bank of Bolivar Quick Start Checklist (where we've noted the important routing and account number information you need), you can quickly and safely move all of your checking activities to your new Bank of Bolivar checking account in just 5 easy steps. 1. Stop writing checks on your former account. Now that you have your new temporary checks and your debit or ATM card stop using your former account. Destroy your old checks and cut up any debit or ATM cards that are attached to that account. Be sure to leave sufficient funds in your account to cover outstanding payments. 2. Change your direct deposits. Begin by taking an inventory of all your direct deposits. Then, complete the Direct Deposit Authorization form and give it to your employer, retirement plan administrator, or other income source. Don't forget to include a copy of a voided check from your new Bank of Bolivar checking account. If you receive Social Security payments, simply call the Social Security Administration ( ) to make the switch. And if you've never used direct deposit before now is the time to try it! You'll love the convenience and easy access to your money. 3. Change your automatic payments. Identify all of the payments that you make automatically from your previous checking account. Then, use the Request to Transfer Automatic Payments form to contact each of these companies to change accounts. Again, don't forget to include a voided check from your new Bank of Bolivar checking account with your request. 4. Sign up for Online Banking. You'll be able to easily track the status of your direct deposits and automatic payments as they switch to your new checking account. 5. Close your former account. Once you are sure that all outstanding checks have cleared and automatic deposits/payments have stopped, close your previous checking account. To save yourself time and stress, simply complete the Account Closing Request form and send it to your former bank.
