1 Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine becomes Rusk Rehabilitation Rusk Transition Updates Kate Parkin, PT, DPT, MA June 11, 2013 Musculoskeletal Network Annual Meeting The Rusk Program: Rusk - established at NYU in 1948 as the first university-based rehabilitation medicine program in the world Ranked among the top 10 rehab hospitals by US News & World Report for past 23 years The building that housed the Rusk Programs: 400 East 34th, (~200,000 sf) opened in 1949, is an aging building that has exceeded its useful life Costly to bring building up to current standards Services currently located within the building include: Inpatient PM&R beds Outpatient therapies Rehabilitation Medicine academic department Research Same Day Admit Unit, Tisch support areas, and radiology offices Howard A.
