3.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project activity is Black Granite mining. In India, the number of operating opencast mines is steadily increasing as compared to underground mines. It is due to low gestation period, higher productivity, and quick rate of investment. On the contrary, opencast mining attracts environmental concerns such as solid waste management, land degradation and socio-economical problems. Most of the adverse impacts of mines are amenable to technological control by providing necessary preventive and control measures and finally through effective environmental management of the operating mines. Environment Clearance is required for project from State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority/State Expert Appraisal Committee as per MoE&F, EIA notification 2006 & Its Amendments thereof. 3.1 TYPE OF PROJECT INCLUDING INTERLINKED AND INDEPENDENT PROJECTS, IF ANY; The mining of Granite is carried out by open-cast semi-mechanized method. This is an independent project. No interlinked project is proposed. 3.2 LOCATION (MAP SHOWING GENERAL LOCATION, SPECIFIC LOCATION, AND PROJECT BOUNDARY & PROJECT SITE LAYOUT) WITH COORDINATES; The Granite Mining project (Minor Mineral) of Sri Suresh Jain 2.0 Ha is located at Survey No: 691, of Madanapalli Village, Madanapalli Mandal,. SHOULD BE GIVEN). Details regarding topography geology, mineable reserves, and production details, Method of mining and extent of mechanization are given below; Topography: The subject area comes under revenue category. The lease area is a elongated small hilly surface with black granite boulders, it is mound type gently sloping due N-S part and covered with shrubs. The local elevation is about 17 m relief within the area with the highest and lowest elevations in the lease area are 815 m and 798 m from the assumed bench mark of 798 m and shown in plate-iii in mining plan. The surrounding areas are flat agricultural lands etc. Small plants and bushes are present all over the area. The drainage developed from this upland area flows due West & SW Regional Geology: The region of the subject area is belonging to Peninsular Gneiss of Archean Group. The Peninsular Gnessic complex comprising migmatite gneiss, grey granodiorite, Porphyritic granite and intruded dolerite and aplite veins. M/s. Vison Labs, Hyderabad 10

The Peninsular Gneissic complex comprises of migmatite-gneiss-granite suite of rocks, they are highly variable in mineralogical composition appearance structure and relative ages. The individual members have not been distinguished in a major part of the area. However, granite and migmatite gneiss occupy a large part of the area while bands of relatively younger coarse-grained gneissic granite occur in north eastern part. The Chittoor belt is located along the Peninsular Gneissic Complex comprises a complex assemblage of gneissic variants and granitic rocks which occupy almost entire lease area. The Peninsular Gneissic Complex in the area is representing mostly by Biotite Hornblende Gneiss Granite and Migmatite in NE part of the quarry lease applied area and made up of rocks of high grade metamorphism, migmatisation and intense deformation. These granites, which are often porphyritic are intrusive into the gneissic terrain and contain alkali feldspar space. The later in parts the colour to the granite which ranges from light to deep pink because of the massive nature of these intrusive. They are amenable to produce large size blocks, due to wide spaced joint pattern inherited to them. The granite deposits are mostly confirmed to the belt between Cuddapha and Chittoor Local Geology: The units exposed in the lease hold are dolerite (Black granite) and granite. The black granite is rising from minimum elevation of MSL 798 m to maximum elevation of 815 m within applied area trending N-S, the strike length of the body measured 350 m in the area with an average width of 55 m.[n-s Vertical, E-W vertical & Horizontal/Sheet joints] Area is characterized by rugged topography with isolated tors and inselbergs intervened by plain lands. Porphyroblastic granite with black amphibole a hornblende background with euhedral dark brown colour K Feldspar porphyritic srystals and extensively extracted in ard around the quarry lease. Mineralogically this rock is composed of quartz, plagioclase, microcline, orthoclase with subordinates amount of biotite, hornblende and magnetite etc. M/s. Vison Labs, Hyderabad 11

Physical Properties of the Dolerite Degree of Weathering : Though the dolorite shows surface weathering only over major part of the area it is expected that the dolerite shows weathering to a depth of 2.0m to 2.5m as can be seen in the working in the Dollar Dykes lease hold Density : 2.9 Poisson s ratio : 0.3 Permeability : Negligible Compressive Strength : 40Mpa Young s Modulus : Gpa Glassiness : The rock takes excellent polish Defects in the rock: Two sets of minor joints are present. However these are expected to disappear in two to three meters depth. Occasional presence of White Specks are noticed Color variation : The rock color change from dark black to slightly lesser dark at places Defects at the contact zone with granite ; The dolerite shows weathering and is coarse grained at the contact zone Geological Reserves: Based on the prospecting work carried out and the present exposure of the rock, the reserves of the area have been estimated in this area with the recovery factor is taken only 15%. A Geological evolution of the deposit: i. Frequency of the joints: Two sets of close spaced vertical joints are present in surface exposures breaking rock into small boulders. ii. Faults and folds are absent in the area iii. Splitting pattern. The rock is hard to vary hard and can be split into perfect blocks as can be seen from the blocks worked earlier and present along the track iv. Extent of Weathering: The black granite show only surface weathering over a major part of the area. M/s. Vison Labs, Hyderabad 12

Reserves The reserves are calculated by cross section method 6 cross section A-A1, B- B1, C-C1, D-D1, E-E1 and F-F1, are drawn cross sectional areas of overburden rock from RL 798 to RL 815) and sheet rock (from RL 798 to 815) are calculated. Sectional areas multiplied by strike influence gives the volume of the rock. The reserves from are considered as overburden and waste rock and mineable reserves. Details of calculation of proved mineable reserves 1. Proved reserves 3,71,650 cu.m 2. Reserves blocked in the buffer zone 7.5 m. 1,08,150 cu.m 3. Reserves blocked under safety slope 77,150 cu.m 4. The mining operations are carried out by semi-mechanization as open cast mining by developing the benches of 6 m height in 2 phases of 3 m each. Wire saw cutting will be deployed based on the favourable conditions. The development if benches in the sheet rock M/s. Vison Labs, Hyderabad 14

will be 0 safety slopes. The separation of blocks from the mother rock will be carried out by drilling, wedge cutting, blasting and excavation will be done by the machinery. Hydraulic excavator and compressor operated jack hammers were used for cutting the rock. Close spaced drilling of 0.3m was adopted along a straight line and charged with low explosives to avoid feather cracks. The secondary splitting, dressing of blocks will be done manually. The mining operations are to be carried in two stages 1. Development 2. Production Stage-I: The removal of weathered and under sized boulders will be cleared in the quarry lease by using excavators. The sheet that is exposed will be subjected to drilling, blasting and splitting from the mother rock. Rock Splitting/Wedging Thus 20 x20 to 40 x20 to 40 mass will be separated from mother rock by drilling the slotter holes on both sides of the mass and a top hole intersecting these two holes and a wire saw rope is passed through and cutting is done horizontally and vertically and by this there will be mass opening on all sides from mother mass. Stage-II: After removal of weathered and under sized boulders, The large boulders will be subjected to splitting into required sizes of blocks by using jack hammers and drilling series of deep holes at right angles at regular intervals, later by intersecting feather and M/s. Vison Labs, Hyderabad 15

wedges in these holes and hammering with sledge hammer eill release the blocks. The burner cutters will be deployed for shaping the boulders The boulders will be splitted to the required sizes with drilling and if required by using chemical compound at source. The boulders separated will be sent to the dressing yard for dressing The boulders, which fit into the required market grade size will be transformed into cuboids Secondary Splitting: After separation from the mother rock, it is properly checked by washing with water to identify defects and cracks. Based on this observation, the size is decided and the blocks are marked and separated by drilling and wedging. The separated blocks will be examined for defects and lines, then the blocks are marked in clear area and holes are drilled along the line of marking with the help of feathers and wedges the waste portion are separated forming a rectangular blocks, bulges will be removed by drilling and wedging to make them perfect blocks. A perfect block is that all sides make with each other Dressing: After primary separation the rock mass will be carefully examined to avoid hairline cracks, mineral segregations and veins. The dressing of the rough blocks will be made by chipping the edges and geometrically equating the edges of the block at the dressing yard. The rough blocks obtained after primary cut it will be dressed for obtaining good geometric shape of coloured granite. Dressing of dimensional rough blocks for exports: Dressing is the final phase of mining operation, wherin the secondary rough blocks are squared into rectangular sizes, there by avoiding uneven bulge or M/s. Vison Labs, Hyderabad 16
