2 CLASSROOM: ADVANCED FUNCTIONAL METER DATA MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY Introduction The Advanced Functional training Meter Data Management is a functional training providing more in-depth knowledge on the Meter Data Management functionality in MECOMS. In a 4 day training the trainees will learn how to setup key concepts for MDM, setup formulas and validation rules, work with certificates and configurations for Manual Read Meters and Smart Meters, upload and validate metering data. With hands-on labs, the student will learn to think about the functional processes and teach him/her how to deal with the processes and functionality within MECOMS. The goal of these advanced trainings is to get the trainees up to a next level of expertise in MECOMS. On the last day of the training, the trainees will also be challenged to show their knowledge in a certification exam. The Advanced Functional Meter Data Management training is an add-on to the MECOMS implementation manuals. The course will also be provided as a self-learning course. (PowerPoint, lab exercises, training environment Omegapoint) This course is also the prerequisite for the Advanced Technical Meter Data Management training. The training is set up around four aspects. First we ll take a look at the different market parties, by explaining multiple international market models. A few key concepts within the energy market as well as MECOMS are discussed in the next section. In the section processes we ll see which processes are being performed within the energy and utilies market. And last but not least we ll explain to the trainees why MECOMS is necessary in the market, a preview on the sales-track. Summary The course starts from a MECOMS environment that is already setup (example: products are already configured and certificates are setup). Each process will be approached in two ways: We will apply a best practice on how to execute a process, and then we will focus on errorsolving. Every process will be explained with theoretical examples and hands-on exercises. Example: you will update the tariffs of a product and will learn to solve errors when the update would fail. You will execute a device replacement and learn what to do when the device replacement does not succeed. 18 CLASSROOM: MECOMS TECHNICAL FOR NON-TECHNICALS UNIVERSITY Introduction The MECOMS Technical Training for Non-Technicals is the technical foundation for MECOMS Application Consultants. In a two day training program, the trainees will get to know all the aspects of the MECOMS Object Model. Furthermore, all aspects related to technical implementations are explained and hands-on exercises are executed by the trainees themselves. This is a high-level technical overview that will help all Application Consultants by giving them an overview on the technical aspects of their implementations. 20 CLASSROOM: MECOMS FUNCTIONAL TRAIN THE TRAINER UNIVERSITY Introduction The MECOMS Functional Train the Trainer -course is designed to support and to enable Trainers at our customers and our partners to create and to deliver MECOMS training themselves to persons using MECOMS on a daily basis. Summary The foundation of this course is a Training Framework that is setup to train Users based on the standard MECOMS Solution. A MECOMS Training Framework is a compilation of building blocks where each building block represents a complete training for a process. Each building block can be used in every training course. This enables to create tailored trainings by combining different building blocks. The training framework consists of: > > An excel file listing the processes that will be executed > > Visio flow per process > > Excel file listing the roles associated to the different processes > > A PowerPoint presentation explaining the different processes > > Happy Flow - as well as Problem Solving exercises for each process. > > Multiple choice quiz > > Documentation with task recording, demo scripts and training manual Approach You will receive pre-defined templates that you will complete with training content that you have adapted. To accomplish this, you first will map the custom processes in your own organisation. Then, you will shape your custom training material in the pre-defined templates starting from the standard content that we already have created to train users based on the standard MECOMS Solution. Step 1: We start explaining the Trainer how to use the MECOMS Training Framework. > > How can you update the MECOMS Training Framework to use for your own organisation > > How to work with the task recorder. > > How to hand over the template documents (PowerPoint presentation, Visio flows, exercise documents, quiz, ) Step 2: We coach the Trainer to create own training material with the use of the MECOMS Training Framework. The Trainer will therefore complete pre-defined templates by reusing and customizing the standard training content that we make available. The level of customization of training content is dependant from how much MECOMS has been customized to improve and automate the utility processes in your company. A Trainer from the MECOMS University will coach you in your role as Trainer with the creation of training material for a sample of the processes until you are familiar to create your own training using the MECOMS Training Framework. The Trainer from the MECOMS University remains available to support you when you create your training resources in the periods where there is no personal assistance of the Ferranti Trainer. Step 3: When you have completed the creation of the training material, the MECOMS University Trainer will review and provide feedback on your training material. You will also be invited to deliver the training to the MECOMS University Trainer who will review and give feedback on your training delivery. Objective After this training, you will be able to create a MECOMS Training for the users in your company tailored to the processes applied in your organisation. Target audience MECOMS Customer: The person in your organization who is assigned with the responsible to develop the competencies of MECOMS Users. MECOMS Partner: The person in your company who is assigned with the responsibility to develop the skills and competencies of MECOMS Users in the organization of your customer. Duration The duration of the MECOMS Functional Train the Trainer-course is 3 days; scheduled between working hours from 09:00hrs until 17:00hrs and typically from Monday to Friday.
