KEY MILESTONES THAT SHAPED BANKSERVAFRICA Establishment of Automated Clearing Bureau (ACB) 1972 Incorporation of Bankserv by the four large banks as a management company overseeing operating companies 1993 Start of Bankserv commercialisation facilitated by regulator and approved by shareholders and board 1998 External analysis highlights the need for a CEO who will drive growth, productivity and sustainability 2002 Board and shareholders approve new four-year diversification strategic framework 2006 A full complement of independent directors and the first independent non-executive chairman appointed in November 2009 A dedicated innovation department is established and the new company structure is bedded down and functioning well 2011 Tango project successfully implemented 2013 SASWITCH (Pty) Limited was established 1983 External consultants commissioned to analyse the way forward for the group 1997 A consortium of lowervolume banks acquire a shareholding in Bankserv 1999 CEO appointed with a mandate to focus on the self-funding of Bankserv through its commercialisation 2003 Shareholders terminate 1999 shareholders agreement. First year of four-year strategy initiated in July 2007 Board unanimously approves next four-year strategy and new company structure is implemented to manage growth and focus. Rebranded as BankservAfrica 2010 Celebrated 40 years of interoperability
